Driving the Bumpy Burma Road, Israel

The video does not quite do justice to the bumpiness, the potholes and the general difficult mobility on the Burma Road even today. Actually, not that much was done to improve driving conditions and a 4X4 jeep is a must to traverse the terrain.
The Burma Road was a secretive dirt venue paved at haste in order to bypass the main road to Jerusalem which was heavily shelled by Arab villagers and gangs stationed on the hills around it, so that convoy passage was impossible. The city was virtually cut off from food and water supply, ammunition and medical provisions for months until the "Israeli Burma Road" was established as a passable alternative route.
A more difficult part (The Serpentines") is literally unpassable by cars without special supports.
