Here’s what I think happened based on many theories I have read:

Sims 1: Bella and Mortimer Goth are adults and Cassandra is a child

Sims 2: 25 Years later, the Calientes move into town. Mortimer is old and Cassandra is an adult. Alexander is a child. The Calientes like Mortimer (possibly for his wealth) but they need Bella out of the way. The Calientes have alien heritage in their family tree so they could have had Bella abducted by aliens and left behind in Strangetown with no memories of her past.

Sims 3: The sims 3 takes place in the past before Pleasantview. Bella and Mortimer are kids. There are two books in the sims 3 that are written by an author named Alexander Goth. One of them is called Murder in Pleasantview. Since it’s impossible for Alexander Goth to exist in the sims 3 timeline, the author could either be a different person or Alexander is a time traveler. This isn’t completely impossible since there is time travel in both the sims 3 ambitions and into the future. Also the book, “Murder in Pleasantview” is a reference to Bella’s disappearance. Before Pleasantview even existed!

Another thing to add, Bella Goth’s tombstone can be found in Lunar lakes. A Simguru confirmed that it’s the same Bella but for some reason her appearance is different. She also doesn’t have any memories of her past life. It’s speculated that this is because of alien abduction. Alien abductions were known to alter your sims in past games however not to this extent.

Sims 4: The sims 4 is an alternate Universe to the other games. As someone already said in the comments, if Alexander Goth really is a time traveler he could’ve went back in time to save his mom, creating an alternate universe where his family is still together.

Edit: This is just me combining a bunch of different theories that I’ve read about the Goth family. I’m not trying to assert it as a fact or anything

Personally I think the timeline would be...
Sims 3.
Sims 1.
Sims 4. (Right before she got abducted. Alexander is in his younger child years.)
Sims 2.

I think time travel in the Sims 3 made it possible for Bella Goth's son to travel though time and prevent his mother's disappearance. This created the alternate time line of Sims 4. I remember in a previous video something about a book written by Alexander Goth, but he was just a child at the time. This could be evidence to support the time traveler theory.

I think Sims 4 doesn't have any interesting stories...I don't know why the producer were soo lazy to create some excitement in the game...Because I liked the secrets and mystery of Sims 2😍

I don’t like when creators make alternate timelines. It looks kind of lazy… because it’s easier to “reboot” the characters instead of continue their history and solve the mysteries from previous games. I think it would be more interesting to create new characters and maybe connect them to the past. I know they want to keep these classic characters (The Goth’s and Caliente’s) alive because we like them, but for me they aren’t the same people anyway… maybe it’s just my nostalgic feelings, but I think the characters as they are in Sims 2 are much more charismatic. I would love to see them in the new graphics but they look completely different in Sims 4. Look at Don Lothario… he was my favorite character but they ruined him lol

The funny thing most don't know too is Bella is originally from the Bachelor family. Her brother is Michael Bachelor. I kind of miss him from the past 3 games.

And what if Sims 4 is in third place, in your cronological timeline, I mean sims 3 with Bella as a child, sims 1 with Bella as an young adult, sims 4 with Bella as an adult, and sims 2 without Bella because she is dead, while her husband is a grandfather about to die. I don't know, but it could be right???

I personally thought that sims 4 was part of the timeline. This is just my theory but I was thinking it went
Ts3- Bella is a child
Ts4-Bella is a young adult
Ts1-Bella is a adult
Ts2-Bella is now missing and is probably an elder
And maybe if EA release a ts5 (in the future) this could be possibly 3 stages- Bella as a baby, Bella as a toddler or Bella as a teenager.

Her abduction story is so crazy to me. I started playing her family in Sims 2 Pleasantview (she was missing at this point) I eventually got bored of playing them and went to Strangetown to move a sim I created into a house and start fresh. After playing for awhile, I notice someone familiar walking past my sim's house. It was Bella! I was definitely shocked. The sim I had move in started a relationship with her and eventually asked her to move in. After being able to control her I found that she had no memory of her family before her abduction (which was to be expected) but I thought it was so sad :( I definitely didn't expect to find her though. I thought the Sims 2 game created the IDEA of her, but not the actual sim itself.

Sims 1 Bella goth has a daughter who's a child
Sims 4 Bella goth has daughter who's a teen
Sims 2 Bella goth dissappears and her daughters an adult.

Doesn't that all fit in the same timeline. How is this an alternative timeline?
