Making the Mashup
What a dream to sing a duet with BROOKE WHITE! We both came from the same town in Mesa, Arizona, but I didn't know her until I saw her Golden Ticket performance on American Idol, Season 7. Just like the rest of the world, I became a big fan of her stunning vocals and warm spirit as I cheered her on from my living room couch.

When I first reached out to Brooke about singing together, it seemed nearly impossible to coordinate our schedules. She's lives in Los Angeles now and I'm a state away in Arizona. We each have our own families and busy lives, and it looked like a collaboration together might be too hard to swing. But just before giving up all hope, I pitched this mashup idea to her, and, short of begging, asked if there was any way we could make it work. When she heard the idea to use Alan Jackson's "Remember When," as part of a mashup, it was a game-changer. Not only is Alan Jackson one of her all-time favorite artists, "Remember When" was actually the song she and her husband Dave danced to at their wedding! I told her it was a sign, and that we had to find a way to make it work!

And I'm so glad we did! She was perfect!

The happy couple in this video is Stanley and Dona Hunt who were married in 1950! The pictures seen in the video are actual photographs of them from earlier years. Their love and mutual respect for each other is inspiring and we can't thank them enough for sharing a glimpse of their lives (and their dancing skills) with us.

This made me cry, thinking of my own parents who were married for over 50 years. I would catch them dancing in the kitchen when they thought all the kids were asleep. I will always remember the image of them in my mind, this song just brought it all back. Thank you. ❤️❤️❤️

Our first date we went country Dancing, 20 yrs later I lost a leg, the night before my surgery we danced for the last time, on my own 2 feet, it was so difficult I had to hang from his neck, I sobbed, but it was a special moment. We are in our 60s now, I use a wheelchair most of the time now, this really got me all choked up, thank you <3

My soulmate died 5 weeks after we married. We were supposed to grow old together. I watch this and imagine it would have been us old together. Never take your lover for granted x

I first came across this song in Jan 2023, I could immediately see the vision for my future marriage. A couple of months later, I met the love of my life. This was the first song I shared with him. 1 year later we married, and we used this mashup version for our first dance. It is powerful how music can create emotion and vision that we can draw to our lives. <3

I'm 56 next month, and still feel young:)
I'm older, as are my peers, and pray that we will move it forward to our beautiful, powerful, informed generation beyond our imagination.
You can do it babies:) Be strong, and take ALL of the good that your taught you.
Be decent: America was NEVER about hate. Always about love/acceptance of ALL of US.

Remember when I was young and so were you
And time stood still and love was all we knew
You were the first, so was I
We made love and then you cried
Remember when

And now you're my whole life
Now you're my whole world
I just can't believe the way I feel about you, girl
Like a river meets the sea,
Stronger than it's ever been.
We've come so far since that day
And I thought I loved you then

Remember when we vowed the vows and walked the walk
Gave our hearts, made the start, it was hard
We lived and learned, life threw curves
There was joy, there was hurt
Remember when

But now you're my whole life
Now you're my whole world
I just can't believe, the way I feel about you, girl
Like a river meets the sea,
Stronger than it's ever been.
We've come so far since that day
And I thought I loved you then

And I can just see you, with a baby on the way
And I can just see you, when your hair is turning gray
What I can't see is how I'm ever gonna love you more
But I've said that before

And now you're my whole life
Now you're my whole world
I just can't believe the way I feel about you, girl
We'll look back someday, at this moment that we're in
And I'll look at you and say
And I thought I loved you then
And I thought I loved you then

I remember, trying not to stare, the night that I first met you
You had me mesmerized
And three weeks later, in the front porch light
Taking forty-five minutes to kiss goodnight
I hadn't told you yet
But I thought I loved you then
And now you're my whole life
Now you're my whole world
I just can't believe the way I feel about you, girl
Like a river meets the sea,
Stronger than it's ever been.
We've come so far since that day
And I thought I loved you then
And I remember, taking you back to right where I first met you,
You were so surprised
There were people around, but I didn't care
I got down on one knee right there and once again,
I thought I loved you then
But now you're my whole life
Now you're my whole world
I just can't believe, the way I feel about you, girl
Like a river meets the sea,
Stronger than it's ever been.
We've come so far since that day
And I thought I loved you then
And I can just see you, with a baby on the way
And I can just see you, when your hair is turning gray
What I can't see is how I'm ever gonna love you more
But I've said that before
And now you're my whole life
Now you're my whole world
I just can't believe the way I feel about you, girl
We'll look back someday, at this moment that we're in
And I'll look at you and say
And I thought I loved you then
And I thought I loved you then

You've really outdone yourself this time Rick. Has to be my favorite mashup - your voices blend so well together. Well done!

Remember when we vowed the vows and walked the walk
Gave our hearts, made the start, it was hard

Remember when
Remember when old ones died and new were born
And life was changed, disassembled, rearranged
We came together, fell apart
And broke each other's hearts
Remember when
Remember when the sound of little feet
Was the music we danced to week to week
Brought back the love, we found trust
Vowed we'd never give it up
Remember when
Remember when thirty seemed so old
Now lookin' back, it's just a steppin' stone
To where we are, where we've been
Said we'd do it all again
Remember when
Remember when we said when we turned gray
When the children grow up and move away
We won't be sad, we'll be glad
For all the life we've had
And we'll remember when
Remember when
Remember when
