Absolutely love the setup and the rest of the living room. Still I would prefer white coral sand inside. Makes it just so much more natural.

The tanks look is clean and pristine, which ads to it beauty, fish and corals are great 👍🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Beautiful tank for sure. Personally I like sand for the additional critters and fish you can keep as well as the much more real look. I also think it's possible to find a happy medium between a ton of rock and a minimalist amount, and that's what I'm shooting for.

If and when I got time and money to get back into the hobby I would definitely go bare bottom and try to create a lot of negative space and perhaps some semi-floating reef structures.

The current trend in minimal rockscape / negative space looks slick and very Instagram friendly but I tend to prefer a more natural approach. Part of the joy of reef keeping is that we spend so much time in "perfect" man made artificial physical and virtual environments, having a reef at home allows for an opportunity to introduce some natural wilderness/"chaos" into our life. I don't really have an urge to over manipulate and sculpt it to the point it is looking artificial. I even keep my lights white to enjoy the aquarium as if it was under the natural sun. I often prefer aesthetics of the old school tanks plus I don't think many of these minimal scapes are good for the fish, too few places for them to hide and relax, too few barriers and outcrops for them to be able to each have defined territories, causing stress and aggression.

Very very nice. Love this set up. I run bare bottom myself. Hard to keep it that clean though. 👍👍

Is that a glass bottom with the white paint from the stand coming through? Very nice, clean look.

I love it!
My fish love the extra space and the ability to maneuver over under and around the Rock-quascape, a couple of inhabitants including a large 6" tang love absolutely love, hanging out under anemone island.
Cheers!
I wish I had a more artistic eye
thanks for sharing...

very nice. I'm also interested in doing this. How does Peter keep the coraline algae from growing on the bottom? Does he use a magnetic glass cleaner underneath?
