Here is why current inflation numbers are meaningless and still disastrous: saying inflation is 7.7% and vastly better than the prior 9.2% is like saying we are racing in a car towards the edge of the Grand Canyon at 77 mph instead of the prior 92 mph we were speeding at so it’s ok. Second we are now comparing year over year numbers to months that were already high in inflation, the baseline is altering, not the current prices. Go back 3 years or 5 and you’ll be shocked. Finally if inflation increased by 0% YOY, it would still be crushing. Gas is $5, rent, utilities, food are consuming all of consumers income, there is nothing left for iPhones and air Jordan’s. Don’t buy into the nonsense that inflation is moderating, transitory, peaked, it’s meaningless gibberish in the real economy.
