Trance, to this day is played every weekend in Dallas. Big names too. I feel like it hasn't gone anywhere. The busiest nights are when the oldschool dj's come in and play classic trance. Deeply magical. Trance isn't going anywhere. Even the young'ns like it.

I was in Gatecrasher when Tiesto played his 1st set there way back in the Superclub era. It was a fantastic time for trance. Ferry, Armin, Scott Bond, 00Flemming, PVD, Jules and even Tall Paul was playing banging Trance. It was a time of togetherness and the clubs were packed every week. Tiesto changed all of that with his first Tiesto Solo event. The landscape changed and trance DJ’s experimented with different sounds. The digital explosion gave producers access to the living rooms of club goers, which ultimately meant more money. PVD fell out with Tiesto for turning his back on the sound he owes so much to and his comments are hurtful. But money changes people and their loyalties. Trance will live on without Tiesto but I hope one day he remembers his humble beginnings and admits he switched just for the money.

His trance is his best music by miles. The new stuff feels more mainstream and doesn't have the magik the trance had..With trance nobody could touch him.

There are two possible options:

1. It came to a point where it was hard to produce original things like their greatest hits Trance and decided to change his style to stay on top.

2. He realized that changing style was the best I could do at the time, as the Trance was losing positions as dominant genre within electronic music and, opportunistically, decided to switch to simpler and easier genres produce to keep its reputation on high.

Whichever of the two, the fact is that at first his change of style was not bad, he still making good songs in their first 2 years in the House scene. But over the years it has been deteriorating greatly both as a DJ and as a producer. He's gone to "the dark side" producing music that nothing transmits, becoming part of the cancer called Big Room that only makes destroy true electronic music... For me Tiësto is no longer what it was, but not because he changed his style to produce, but because he lost ( at least from my point of view) his essence...
