Cancer and tumor treatments such as chemotherapy, radiation therapy and surgery can affect a person’s ability to become pregnant or have a child. Oncofertility is a field of medicine that addresses reproductive ability before, during and after cancer treatment.

When we treat your child for pediatric cancer, we don’t just want to give them the healthiest life they can have now, but in the future as well. Our surgical oncologists work with fertility preservation specialists from the very beginning of a patient’s journey to ensure we are giving them the best chance at fertility when the time comes. Whether we are looking at chemotherapy or radiation and fertility or oncologic surgery and fertility, we consider the long-term impact to fertility during each patient’s course of treatment to help to ensure the best possible outcome.
