Malaysia is set to enhance its air force capabilities with the potential acquisition of 33 F/A-18 C/D Hornet fighter jets from Kuwait, as announced by Defense Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin. However, this deal hinges on approval from the United States and Kuwait’s own modernization program. The Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) is eyeing these jets to complement its existing fleet of F/A-18Ds and Sukhoi Su-30MKMs, replacing the now-retired MiG-29s. This move is critical, as delays in securing these fighter jets could push Malaysia's air defense modernization back by several years. With Kuwait expected to complete its new fleet by 2027, there is hope for a smooth transfer of their older jets. The official visit by Malaysian defense leaders to Kuwait marks a significant step in strengthening defense ties and speeding up negotiations. Stay updated on this vital acquisition that could reshape Malaysia’s defense strategy.

They are saying that Malaysia is 'desperate' to get the old fighter jets. Other small countries like Qatar, Kuwait are getting new military armaments and we, pick up others' unwanted garbage. Malu lah!
