I can't picture anyone else except Robert Reed in the role even though it was hard to work with him. Good video Bob.

Robert Reed was the best choice. He was a wonderful actor.

Robert Reed wasn’t in the last show of the series because of an argument with Sherwood.

I once read that Sherwood Schwartz was going to fire Robert Reed in 1974 and replace him with Lyle Waggoner if the show was picked up for a sixth season, but ABC canceled the show.

Robert Reed was arrogant and thought he was too good to be in a kitschy sitcom but he certainly never turned down the paycheck!

As always, I love your take on these old shows. 2:20 sorry but I had to laugh at that choice of words.

There has been so much trivia about The Brady Bunch in the last several decades I have to wonder if the fabled alternate Brady kids - three brunette girls and three blonde boys remember being considered! Haha!

Of course this is just speculation, but it's within the realm of possibility that had Jeffrey Hunter been picked to play Mike Brady, he might not have died so young.

Shooting for The Brady Bunch pilot began on October 8th 1968. Jeffrey Hunter sustained a serious concussion from a stunt gone wrong during the filming of Cry Chicago in Spain; the accident happened in November of 1968.

On the flight back, his wife stated he went into shock and couldn't speak and could barely move.

Doctors could only find a concussion and a displaced vertebrae. However on March 26th, he suffered an intracranial hemorrhage causing him to strike his head on a bannister. He was found unconscious by a friend. He underwent brain surgery and died the next morning.

So, who knows. It's possible the accident on set, may have had lingering effects.

Sherwood made him miss the final episode, Uncle Bob! Because Robert Reed thought the script was unbelievable‼️ What was really unbelievable was Mike Brady missing his (oldest) sons graduation‼️ And that's exactly what happened when Robert Reed refused to participate in the final episode‼️‼️🇺🇸📺🎓🤪

I can't imagine Jeffrey Hunter with a perm, lol. Otherwise, he would have been nicer to look at than Reed.

Every time I think of Jeffrey Hunter, I think of him and John Wayne in the searchers. Great movie. 👍

Robert Reed did not appear in the last episode of the Brady Bunch. Too bad the show didn't get a nice send off like some other shows.

Clint Eastwood seems to be a good choice to play Mike Brady in my mind.

The official reason for Jeffery Hunter leaving Star Trek was him getting a film role. But it was actually due to his overbearing wife/agent. I don't think Star Trek would have lasted as long with him. William Shatner was a great choice. Thank/afully he's still with us.

It would have been interesting to see his take on the role. Right off I can't recall any comedies he did. His movie credits include King of Kings, The Searchers, and Sergeant Rutledge. His death might have meant the end of the series. Recasting would have been a challenge.

Robert Reed was great in the role. Even the Schwartzes admitted that in their book on the series. Suppose he'd been more tactful regarding his notes and quest for realism. My mom said he was right about cooked strawberries not giving off a scent. The show would have probably gotten letters about that. He did a lot of TV work after the series ended. His turn on Medical Center got him an Emmy nomination. You could do videos about guest appearances and various TV movies. Ironically, he and William Shatner, along with Andy Griffith and Marjoe Gortner, were in the TV movie Pray for the Wildcats.
