Bought this alongside the harrier when it was on a massive discount when I reached 5.3 BR because I wanted to play high BR without having to grind because I have a life outside of war thunder. Had a hard time at the start, but I can usually break even on SL after a few weeks with it without paying for a premium account. For the fact that you're usually fighting russian tanks, which are far more powerful than they should be, the M1A1 AIM is a really forgiving tank. Not the most forgiving out there, but it's ok for beginners as long as you take a minute to learn where to shoot on russian tanks. Even if the stock grind is painful until you get the KE-W round, the thermals and rangefinder, it's definitely a formidable opponent to your enemy, so long as you aren't stupid enough to show them your hull.

I don’t buy any squadron vehicles, I always grind them. Why would I waste money on something when I can just wait and get it for free? For me, it’s a very simple calculation.

i liked this video, you have a surprisingly listenable voice and it was nice to have someone talking while i play a mostly silent game, EU4

anyways, i think i can agree on most of the points made in this video. unless you have good backups both in lineup and even in the consumable universal backup type if your lineup is small, it's better to hold off on purchasing the vehicle when the million and a half SL required could go to making lower tier lineups to grind the US tree itself.

also i think something to consider about the grind, at least from an outsider perspective as im not at top tier is that the modification grind seems like HELL and it looks like Russia is dominating top tier. when everyone else is gonna be having their lovely darts, laser range finders and best mods, you're shat on with none of that AND a stock HEAT-FS round as an insult to you.
a long grind (at least to a newer player who mainly hangs around 5.0-8.0) + the truth that you're likely just gonna lose often is no good thing. that's another reason why I'd hold off, from a new players perspective... it's not a premium tank, it's just basically a tech tree tank that you don't have to grind for months or years for through other tanks.

though if i had a full top tier lineup, it'd only make sense, to me, to grind out the aim once i have the other tanks down as another abrams for if i were to die early or just die in general, vs Russian hordes of t72/80/90s

and ik me personally, i wouldnt GE this unless i ground it down to under like 2000 GE or something. anything above? i don't think i could afford to get so much GE for a fake game and thousands of GE could be used to but out a genuine premium for grinding or SL farm.

so i agree with like, everything here lmao

I already researched all the American ground vehicles, I really like Abrams not only how it looks but also the strength.I have 6 abrams and 5 of them are ace crew, each of them is unique for me.

I spent over 3 years struggling at stupid slow bullshit ww2 tanks that I don't like at all trying to get to the modern tanks, now im still at 6.3, so buying a M1A1 AIM is good option for me to continue playing this game

Ngl this abrams taught me how awfully one sided with Russia top tier really is, i had 10.3 before getting the aim, so when i got the aim it was constantly facing 10.7 and up, the abrams is survivable and mobile thats it, the t80 have better armor, and better sights than the tech tree one, and just feels awful when you play 10 games and literally win 1.

The t72 turms is horrendous to vs with stock heatfs but a spot that worked very well for my ariete was the drivers port. Consistently 1 shot the turms with heatfs.

There can be various answers to this question depending on your situation, my opinions on these various scenarios are:

1-You want to play an Abrams right now no matter what: If so I'm not gonna be the one telling you how to spend your money, not that it would make a differece anyway.

2-You want to play top tier america: Buy the XM-1 and you will be able to grind the other Abrams much faster and eventually the AIM will come as well.

3-You want to get into top tier for any nation you just don't want to play WW2 tanks (I know well this felling): Buy the premium Leopard 2A4 123, Challanger DS, or T-72AV. I personally preffer the T-72 but that tank isn't as forgiving as the other two if you don't know what you are doing.

everyone should learn how to enjoy to grind in this game, otherwise the lifespan of it will diminish
players are so focused on acquiring the most OP / top notch vehicles that they forget how to enjoy a good old 5.3, 6.7...BR matches.
Gaijin loves you to purchase premium tanks and skip the fun for pay2win as businesses do. The drawback is that by the time the noobs unolock rank VII they don't know what to do anymore and get frustrated because they forgot how to have fun and develop a normal learning curve

Buying squadron vehicles without a lineup is dumb. Buying premium vehicles without a lineup I fully understand. That's half the point of a premium vehicle is to grind out the tech Tree if you're already at that BR it's not as useful.

If you're going to get a top rank premium, bring backups for fucks sake, obviously you'll be spawning twice in your premium, so that's twice as much RP per round and you're more likely to win, even more RP. On top of that bring something else, a low tier light tank with spotting at a minimum. An aircraft or helicopter preferably and ideally a squadron or event vehicle at or bellow the premium's BR

I have top tier full line ups for Russia, Germany, USA, and the UK which badly needs the AJAX regardless of the real life issues. The Bias towards the Russian top tier line is unbelievable. The T80 BVM’s side ERA bags eat shells… the Russian line has all round better thermals, speed and armour which suits the meta. There are gems like the 2A6 and and M1A2, however they still don’t have thermals on par. I play as I’m an ex reconnaissance British tanker and have lived and breathed armour since a young age. I have recently coined my way into the top of the US tree as I work hard and can afford to treat myself with my favourite hobby in gaming. I’m taking a break from WT to try my hand in DCS VR but always appreciate your content so keep up the good work!!

Really glad you said all that about inexperienced players buying top tier premiums/event/squadron vehicles. PLEASE for the love of god either get a lineup or get good before ruining your own fun at top tier.

honestly i was one of those 1 time death leavers with the leopard 2pl but i started to learn how to play it and went well and then bought the tam 2ip imo good combo and now im not one of those 1 time leavers plus now i know how to play a hard tank and finally almost done with the german tech tree

I purchased the M1A1 AIM i’ve been using it with my 8.0 set up because that’s what BR at in the tech tree but I spend more time in my 8.0 vehicles because they perform at that BR more reliably and I can still kill things like the Turms from the front with my M60A1 and M60A2

1300hrs in the game bought this just to fool around with some extra backups since i dont have us top teir and if you use it like that its pretty fun and as long as you have backups its not just the annoying 1 spawns

I'm grinding it right now, should be finished in about 3 weeks!

Imo grind, cause you can spend that GE on better stuff such as premiums or the battlepass

I've purchased top tier premiums for practicing. I've been grinding for about a year and have reached 7.3 in both Russian and German. Also have British and French up to 4.0. I have the 2 of the premium U.S. tanks and use custom battles for top tier practice.

i bought this cause it was aussie! didnt care if i had a kine up or not, just like collecting these in game, still have to grab a few fighters and that centurion but i absolutely love this machine, just for the sound effects alone, though i have been looking at a few premiums to fill out that line up
