A black hole at the center of the Perseus Galaxy sends out pressure waves that can be translated into a note. NBC News’ Harry Smith is joined by Erin Kara, an assistant physics professor from MIT, to discuss how scientists at NASA resynthesized those notes to allow humans to hear the sound of the phenomenon.

For anyone wondering, the reason there’s sound in space even though space is mostly a vacuum was because this black hole was in a cluster that was mostly gas which gave the sound waves something to bounce off of

If that black hole is a million light years away, an unimaginable distance for the human mind! That "device" that registered "sound" registered the illusion of sound that it reproduced and created that device, the "sound meter"! Like when you close your ears, you hear a specific sound, the sound inside you, but you don't really sound like that!

I really hate this. I’m absolutely terrified of black holes and I always imagine they sounded exactly as it does. I had to close my eyes and put my hands over my eyes to listen to this. Makes me sick ugh I’m scared lol

Is this from a radio telescope? Because sound waves do not travel in space if there is no matter for them to travel through. How was this recording made?
