Delphi Murders - State v. Richard Allen trial - DAY 8 - State's Case in Chief

Today was building on more of the same. We had additional eyewitness testimony, and we heard more about the cell phone extractions in the case. We also heard from the forensic pathologist.

I never post comments on YouTube but I have been watching your recaps and had to comment to say how much I appreciate you doing this. Not only are you sleeping on the steps (or your car if you’re lucky) and getting a few hours of sleep each night but you’re also taking amazing notes and coming home and spending hours to give us the play by play for the day.

I have been following this case for years, hoping and praying that the person who murdered Abby and Libby would one day be caught and held to account for this horrific crime. Like many others I was disappointed this case wasn’t going to be televised. I live in Australia, our system doesn’t allow filming of criminal trials, and that’s one thing I like about the US system. What I can’t understand about the state theory is why Bridge Guy (regardless of whether we’re alleging it’s RA or not) despite
- operating alone,
- having already seen numerous people on the trail,
- not knowing that A&L would be there or whether their friends or family or come back at any second and
- in RA’s case, with no record of having committed these offences in the past
would all of a sudden think think this was an opportunistic time to kidnap and SA to young girls.
Is it possible? Sure - some people act irrationally. But is it plausible? I really don’t think so.

The Abby on Bridge photo was sent to her story, which usually lasts for 24 hours. One of her friends screenshot it for the police. That’s why it says, “7 hours ago”, the friend screenshot it 7 hours after it was uploaded. So it was around 9ish at night.

What a dark world we live in. About 3 years ago, I was the victim of a violent knife attack. The primary wound I suffered, and I fought, was a defensive wound. But it ended up slicing my hand about 1/4 the way off. Of my body. It severed 12 tendons, my ulnar nerve and ulnar artery, and almost killed me from blood loss. But my scar from the surgery to attempt to prepare the ulnar nerve (didn't work - I now have less than 40% function of my dominant hand, permanently. Maybe. Fingers crossed, science. I'm not complaining, I am thankful I survived haha) is more than 3x the size of the wound itself, which is a very, very thin line from a sharp knife. However, it was exclusively referred to as a severe "laceration". So, I guess that would be considered an "incision" then based on the info here? Just thinkin out loud over here. EDIT: Incidentally I just answered my own question listening to another trial. An incised wound.

Thanks for your awesome reporting. You are very nice to listen to in a sea of insufferable true crime media. Mainstream isn't the only culprit - by far - but my GOD true crime dinosaur Nancy Grace showed up on my recommended with peak wrong opinions on this case. And I usually like dinosaurs. But She is everything wrong with this space. Still. Somehow.
