Php right after js says a lot . The new versions and laravel probably boosted it . Happy to see that

I use C# and SQL every day for past 10 years. My boss asked me if I could take a look at a Python script they had that wasn't working right. I said sure even though I had never touched Python. Development is all about logic... you just have to learn a different syntax. I've used many programming languages (C, C++, VB, FoxPro, ASM, etc.) and the one I hate the most is PYTHON!

MATLAB is also used in Systems/Design Engineering alongside Simulink.

I still don't know if this language will have a good future, but I'm having a great time with Nim.

It still bugs me to this day that Kotlin basically stole all ideas from Scala and became more popular language because they found good niche in Android. Scala being the best JVM language never got popularity it deserved.

Weird that TypeScript isn't there

Sql should be the first one since no matter what language you use slq will always be there

I had a dream the other night I was coding and when I'd finished I realized that I forgot to add a semicolon to each line. Maybe it's a sign I should be coding in Python?

I am enjoying programming in python, I did c#, js, Java, swift.. and so on. I’m prep for interview with Python, and doing projects with python too. But I’m not aiming for data science or ML. Should I do at least personal with JS or C# if I’m not aiming for AI/ML? I’m aiming for junior dev

I am surprised that Dart is 32 given how popular flutter appears to be otherwise.

js being still the only native language for frontend app development is a tragedy.

So, C, Fortran and Cobol are back. The more things change, the more they stay the same.

I wonder if Fortran, Assembly, C, VB: are on the list because of the boomers who have been programming since the 1970's are now retiring.

so sounds like not so good for us Java learners haha .. but I see so many jobs ads still

*"No. 8 - Visual Basic"*

O.K., this list is bogus. Although to be honest the number of Delhi (Visual Pascal) jobs currently out there is quite surprising. And Borland / "Insight" even seems to still be churning out new compilers for it.

I don't think many developers or tech leads make the distinction between popularity and use.

Example: vueJS was and still is extremely popular next to angular and react; tho the vast majority of developers who used all 3 of them agree vue is utter shit. So much so that a 50 line custom polyfill script is far more usable and flexible than the entire vue core library. Actual download metrics collaborate this.

Now, here is my rundown based on my experience.
Python - I always looked at py as a lightweight scripting language. Something along the lines of lua but more, able to punch up to medium complexity. It is also relatively new, that still generates novelty buzz.
C, C++ - There is no doubt in anyones mind if you want to learn to code and also want to learn what makes computers tick C is the way to go.
C# and java - they both occupy prominent positions in enterprise software. C# IMO is just plain better.
Javascript - Availability, that is, a random rock next to a maple tree can probably run it.
