University of Amsterdam | Marieke de Goede presents Michel Foucault | AISSR Great Thinkers Series
Показать описание
Michel Foucault (1926-1984) – a doctor’s son, a fighter for prisoner and migrant rights, former head of the philosophy Department at the experimental University of Vincennes – is well known for his original work on power and knowledge.
He was a keen student of practices of normalization and subjectivation in historical context. Foucault himself talked about his work as a ‘tool box’ that that can be used to place little ‘Molotov Cocktails’ under received concepts.
Marieke de Goede picks up some of Foucault’s tools, and discusses how they have helped rethink our concepts of ideology, history and government.
