Self-Hold Hug For Trauma Healing

This self-holding hug is one of my favorite nervous system regulation techniques. It is super accessible and can be done anytime, anywhere.
.
According to trauma healing experts like Peter Levine, Deb Dana, and others, this style of hug creates a particular safety mechanism for the brain and body. I almost always feel my nervous system release within a few seconds of doing this.
.
Next time you feel frazzled, frantic, or even just sad and lonely, try this hug hold and continue until you feel a shift. This often shows up as a sigh, swallow, deep breath, relaxing of the shoulders/jaw, etc.

Cool thanks, I was trying to work this out. I also put my arma inside t shirt and created a cocoon. Prolonged self hug seems to help reduce depression and improve a bit of healthy self respect and self love. I gotta learn to love myself in a healthy way. I have been treating myself badly and self punishing myself.
