I just found your song, "I hear a Symphony" the other day and now I'm delving into your albums. I think I just found a treasure.

I know that this isn't likely what the song was meant to be about, but this song touches deeply on my experiences with anxiety. Despite wanting to connect and feel and have that genuine interaction, I am so scared to talk to anyone or go anywhere because I worry that I'm a burden and unwanted and just going to inconvenience others by being present. My head starts to spin and thoughts race. So instead, I distance myself and isolate. It's like looking at pictures of life instead of really experiencing it to its fullest. Thanks for writing this, man. It makes me tear up, but it makes me feel seen.

There’s so much to be said about this songwriting approach that wants nothing more than to prick and provoke the deepest insecurities of our hearts. Combined with beautiful string crescendos and soft, yet passionate vocals.. and you have a Cody Fry single. Seriously.. this is one of the most real songs I’ve ever heard. Nice work, man!

This is most definitely my most listened to song in 2024.

At first, I “sorta” understood the message of the song but was more interested in how the song soothed me for the first few months I listened to it.

But, as I listened to the song more and more, I started to notice why I loved it so much.

It’s because this song perfectly captures how my life is now as in sure it does for many of you as well.

This song is about thirsting for genuine connections. Like in the first verse, we find ourselves disconnected.

We have friends but don’t actually interact with them directly opting to seeing their posts online instead.
We visit places and see what they have to offer but only on our phones.

It hurts because it’s not real.
Our hearts do not pound nor feel excitement for these “pictures of mountains” because it’s not real.

And yes, life does get busy. Especially now because we can just hide behind our phones.

But this song encourages me to live and experience the things that cannot be captured in “pictures of mountains.”

I don’t want to live a life of being surrounded by pictures of mountains.

I pray this next year, 2025, would be the year the Lord helps me out of the rut I’ve found myself in 🙏

Absolutely love this song. The piano part is beautiful, the vocals are (as always) incredible, the lyrics are poignant, and I just adore the way Cody Fry builds up from just vocals and piano to the big orchestral sound that this song has.
