I totally agree with Lance. In an internet search, this works. However, in Amazon search, any time I try to negate a word, even more products with the "excluded" word show up.

this method doesn't work as of now. looked for "protein powder -whey" and almost exclusively got whey protein powder

I already tried this and it ignores the minus sign and INCLUDES the word instead of excluding it. Looks like Amazon broke this feature! I've been tempted to apply for a job there just so I could fix this feature.

I just noticed today that Amazon is pretty much ignoring my search words and putting other products of the same type ahead of the actual object I search for, even though the object does exist. I searched for the netgear cm1200 cable modem and got a bunch of arris and motorola modems at the top of the search along with some other netgear branded modems. At first I thought they didn't have the modem, but after searching thought a couple pages of results I found it. I wonder if Amazon has started pushing the products of people who pay more to the top of the list. I'm getting really tired of all the bullshit with this company.

I’ve primarily used Ebay for the last 12 years because of this. Amazon search has always sucked and I think they do it on purpose because they a) expose you to more products. And b) they want to push certain inventory on you that’s not selling. b)
Is used to be much worse where you couldn’t even sort by price unless you picked a department first.

"HowToCreator", how did you accomplish this? Other commenters are correct. This does NOT work, and instead incudes the word you want to exclude. Amazon's search is the most arrogant and frustrating search engine I've ever encountered. They ignore traditional and expected search parameters and instead force-feed you results bloated with products you're not interested in. That's just one aspect of their manipulative search results. It's annoying to have to scroll through page after page of irrelevant search results to find what you're looking for buried several pages down. AND they don't even include all relevant results. I often find what I'm looking for by accident or in the related products that are on most product pages.

Doesn't work. Type "desk fan -usb" and you get a plethora of USB fans.

Doesnt work. According to threads dating back to 2015 "---" has done jack and shit since then.

UPDATE: I have since noticed that _Sometimes_, I have to type in parenthesis around the whole search type, with the "+" and "-" method I share here to get it to work... and sometimes I don't. Not sure why, but try either one to see what works for you. Example: (+Sliding +Screen +Door "-"Magnetic).
Here is what FINALLY worked for me. Add "+" before each word desired, and "-" before each undesired word, making sure to add a space between each "+word" and "-word" [example: +Sliding +Screen +Door "-"Magnetic -- _I put quotations around the "-" sign here because when I don't it causes the type to appeared in this comment as __-crossed out-__ . Do Not add quotations however when typing in your Amazon search_ ]. I got this help from @AmigoFeliz8 Feliz in this thread's comment section. I cannot take credit -- For reference, I used a Chrome browser in Windows 10

OK so you can’t use inclusions and exclusions, is there an external third-party site that searches through Amazon?

Searching on Amazon just doesn't work reliably. It can do a good job of excluding but it doesn't think that you necessarily want to include the search term in the title.

Searching amazon.com for 'Marley -Bob' in Men's Fashion had, "Bloch Dance Women's Split Flex Character Shoe" as the 3rd item found simply because the word 'marley' (a type of dance floor surface) appeared in one of the comments.

Yeah the minus sign does NOT work. Seems to have no effect at all. This works on Google but not Amazon.

Try adding "+" before each term desired, and "-" before undesired terms. I just got some good results with that technique.
