Just a quick note - as I have the 5400 - if you hit the “clean” button on the front of the Philips, it will rinse out the milk frother so you can put it back in the fridge

The Philips absolutely has the clean the latte go feature. I clean every time I use it. Push the clean button and select “Quick Rinse”. It rinses the coffee path when you turn it off.

I have the delonghi, and let me tell you in it’s first 3 months, it’s probably done around 720 double espressos! Yes I know I drink way too much coffee but I work from home 😂 it’s only thrown the de-scaler light once, and the filter twice. Obviously continuous tray empty lights with that use. But it’s been genuinely great! For the price point, and a touch of a button I don’t have any complaints. Choose your beans, stick them in. 👌🏻

Thank you for the comparison. Would help if you both would have sampled the coffee from both machines and then given us a verdict on the taste. Without that you are only tasting the coffee from one of the machines not knowing what the other just produced !

Delonghi Magnifica Evo is a winner, much easier and beautiful looking and tasting drinks!

Not sure what she is talking about but the Delonghi is not loud at all. Also the Philips does have a clean function for the Latte go. Great machines bad reviewers who fail to know the product they are revewing.

I just bought the 5400 a week ago. Not sure if it's just in canada and US but Philip's have me an extra 3 years warranty brining it up to 5.
More of a reason to love this machine 😀

I recently got myself a 5400 (imported from UK) also had to get a step-up transformer for it, kind of sucks that you can't find the 5400 in states... but I'm absolutely loving the Philips.

I have the delonghi and would summareise it as: terrific coffee, terrible milk.

As my second foray into superautos after having owned a Lelit Elizabveth V3 during the pandemic, I'm not sure I'd go with the Evo again as the milk system on the Evo is inferior to the Eletta model I used to have before my semi autp. The Eleta produced really creamy, cafe quality milk but the Evo froths the heck out of it and even burns it. Think 80s Italian cap with almost no flavour. This was particularly noticeable after coming from a manual wand on a proper espresso machine where I learned the right temp and texture. I was open to some compropmise but the Evo's milk system is simnply not enjoyable.

Fortunately I'm mainly an espresso or long coffee drinker and this machine does a great job at both. The only other advice I would giv buyers of this category is that all superautos are made of plastic and therefore cant get quite as hot as traditional semi automatic machines. If you use any beans roasted medium ligfht or above in terms of roast development you may end up with a sour coffee no matter what.

The big, expensive machines made of metal actually get hot to touch and that aids thermal stability and the extraction of flavours. Also, users tend to have very sophisticated grinders that would cost as much if not more than these super autos here. People roasting coffee fall into this catgeory, and so it's important to look beyond the label and ask your roaster upfront what theyd recommend for a home superauto machine.

Coffee selection is key - you want something fresh but that the roaster has labelled 'for home use' as that is normally a sign the roast is more developed and therefore more able to be easily extracted/brewed by at-home equipment.

If you really want lighter roasts, fret not - just grab an affordable Aeropress and hand grinder combo in addition to your superauto and you won't miss a thing. It's that simple that I am kicking myself for having previously gone down the expensive semi auto 'rabbit hole'.

I'd love to try the Phillips for comparison's sake. I'm already wondering which brand I'd buy next - again, nothing bad with the Delonghi's coffee, just not impressed with the newer milk system on this model.

Philips, like the DeLonghi, has a quickie one button washout function for the milk carafe

Philips looks more user friendly. Glad i went with it.
Thanks for the comparison.

Many thanks for the comparison. How about the mills? There is quite a difference in between mills too.

Can you add basic maintenance reviews to you videos? How easy to access, wash, reinstall the brew unit, for example. How long does decalc take. Hiw difficult to get to typical items that need cleaning periodically?

The difference in te noise is because DeLonghi has a steel grinder and Philips a ceramic one.

So many video's on how to, but no one showsyyou how to use the ground coffee part of machine, how to use. If I have beans in the tray how do I use the ground coffee, do have to push something or simply put ground coffee in and machine uses thise beans rather than grinding beans? Philip's 4300

A couple years ago I bought the Senseo pod coffee maker and the coffee was beyond weak even after we tried a good number of pods and ended up just donating it. I was all set to buy the Phillips but now knowing the Phillip and Senseo are one of the same, wondering if the 4300 makes a decent cup of coffee.

So does the Phillips do a decent cup of coffee as well? Wife is a big coffee drinker, while I’m more about lattes and cappuccino.

If I wanted to make a Latte with Ristretto would that be possible with the Philips?
