Introducing the next chapter in our history; Hertfordshire Zoo. 🦁🐯

Hertfordshire Zoo will launch officially on the Parks 40th anniversary which will be the 1st of April 2024. With conservation, education, research, breeding and welfare at our heart, we will see an exciting new chapter in the zoo’s history. As our family-run charity enters the next phase of the long-term master plan, which will see a host of new, amazing but sadly threatened species calling Hertfordshire Zoo home.

With less than two years to go, we will be releasing updates on our website and across our social media platforms in the build-up to this exciting change for not only the zoo but the whole county. 🧡

I think it’s great to enhance the zoos appeal outside of Hertfordshire but I won’t lie I think as a local and a visitor for many years this is a sad thing.. personally I’d just like to visit and see the enclosures finished it’s been fantastic seeing the zoo change and the new habitats are amazing - but right now we are waiting for the bears, leopards and otters enclosures to complete this is a massive part of the zoo and it feels like a long time coming for these changes.

The new dinosaurs are fantastic, the new picnic area is great although having to walk round it is a bit odd and doesn’t work when busy.. you need signs for the noodle bar that to order and sit inside that you order outside and I’m glad I don’t have to work inside that titchy area I felt sorry for the staff.. and for noodles it’s a bit pricey - less sauce and cheaper prices I’d say as we left most of ours - tasted good though..

I do hope with this grand scheme of being Hertfordshire zoo that you have the space to expand and get some further animals for us too see - elephants, gorillas, giraffes ? Not sure if you have the space or the room to expand though and importantly that you don’t change the format too much as once those enclosures are competed you will have a great zoo.. a mix of animals and play areas for the kids makes a wonderful escape for those of us locals with families.

And I think I read you have removed the ability to pay monthly on memberships for new people I think that’s a shame in this current climate..

Keep doing what you do and although this might sound a bit negative we had a wonderful time this weekend and encourage anyone who hasn’t visited to go… and as a member we will be back again soon
