This little camera was the first camera I ever used as a child. Was our first "family" camera. Amazingly simple to use and still takes great pic 40 years on. Love it.

I worked in a photographic shop from 1980 -1996 and we used to take pics on various films including Ilford Pan F and blow the resulting negatives up to 20 x 16" to display in the shop. the results were absolutely incredible. My wife had one for years and took some amazing street photography type shots on various holidays in Greece Portugal Italy France etc. That little Zuiko lens was a true gem...

Great vids! For generic street shooting - I’m going to assume we would set the focus to group? Or infinity?

I love my Trip too, it's sharp as a diamond and 100% reliable. Thanks for another great episode.

Another excellent video on an absolute classic. The little 40mm f2.8 D design is possibly the best lens type for this sort of camera (10M+ users can't be wrong!)

Great video! I used to own a 35SP and a 35RC and, now I've watched your video, I want to buy both of them again. I have a few Trips, so they will do me for now. I'm old enough to remember the David Bailey TV advert but I had a Zenit EM back then. Anyway, thank you for reviving my interest in film photography!

Great video Ade. Olympus really made some good 35mm cameras, I love my 35 RC.
The selenium light cell on the Trip 35 is convenient and avoids the search for discontinued battery types.

Thanks for your video. I have had one of these cameras (equally in as good condition as your own) for about 10 years, and it always performs well. It’s a very easy camera to use and it’s great for catching really sharp images.

Bought mine in a street market in Split, Croatia for €30 a few years back. I'd never used one. It didn't have a lens cap. I found a shop selling film, wound it on and shot the roll in a day, hoping I'd worked out how to work the camera. Some of the results were a bit unfocussed but where I'd got it right... wow. Amazing, colourful, sharp photos. I don't use it, but I'm not planning to sell it either. Beautiful design. Olympus should do a digital version in micro four thirds. Fixed 20mm lens, no autofocus, no rear screen. Just zone focus and a view finder. Work out what you got when you get home. Spartan digital photography!

Absolutely love this camera. I now have three. One for black and white film. One for Kodak Portra. And one with Fuji Velvia slide film.

Just bought one today for £20 - loaded some HP5 into it a few minutes ago, will give it a go tomorrow. I read a few reviews of them, and just had to get one! Now I have all the cameras I will need for the rest of my life; Trip 35 and a Nikon FE. Now to get some accessories for the Trip from probably the Trip Man. Just a yellow filter and a lens cap . That's it. Oh yeah, and I was out and about in London when I found the Trip. all the best, Scotty. Love the vid.

I have one of these. 2nd generation with the plastic shutter release button rather than the original metal one. And this is another really interesting, informative and entertaining video. Thanks.

Indeed, the voiceover is very captivating.

The overlap is to make it possible to see the focus setting in the little extra window on the lower right. The one before infinity, the group, is the hyper focal range. That's why it's coloured red.
I find rangefinders hard and slow to focus in many situations. It's often difficult to find a suited contrast edge to do the focusing on.
I also find the lens mount on the 35 RC wobbly, cheap feeling and fiddly to use compared to the Trip.
The Trip is also far easier to find and cheaper. It has a slightly smaller lens but would be my choice for most occasions.
