One of the songs where Mike shows a LOT of his potential as a rapper/lyricist, just my opinion. What about yall's else?

The opening to the song is that moment where you tell anyone who hasn't heard the song..."Get ready, this is gonna be awesome"

This song and By Myself, I've been listening to both for like 18 years, and until this day I'm shocked how underrated they are, I feel they both are easily the best from this record, and that's saying a lot.

From this song to the emptiness machine.

For 24 years Linkin park have shown us the importance of letting go of something or someone that does nothing but hurt us, no matter how much we love them. Godspeed Chester.

[Verse 1: Mike Shinoda]
I watch how the moon sits in the sky in the dark night
Shining with the light from the sun
The sun doesn't give light to the moon assuming
The moon's gonna owe it one
It makes me think of how you act to me
You do favors, then rapidly
You just turn around and start askin' me about
Things that you want back from me

[Pre-Chorus: Mike Shinoda]
I'm sick of the tension, sick of the hunger
Sick of you actin' like I owe you this
Find another place to feed your greed
While I find a place to rest

[Chorus: Chester Bennington & Mike Shinoda]
I wanna be in another place
I hate when you say you don't understand
(You'll see it's not meant to be)
I wanna be in the energy, not with the enemy
A place for my head

[Verse 2: Mike Shinoda]
Maybe someday, I'll be just like you and
Step on people like you do and
Run away all the people I thought I knew
I remember back then who you were
You used to be calm, used to be strong
Used to be generous, but you shoulda known
That you'd wear out your welcome, and now you see
How quiet it is all alone
See Linkin Park Live
Get tickets as low as $25
[Pre-Chorus: Mike Shinoda]
I'm so sick of the tension, sick of the hunger
Sick of you actin' like I owe you this
Find another place to feed your greed
While I find a place to rest
I'm so sick of the tension, sick of the hunger
Sick of you actin' like I owe you this
Find another place to feed your greed
While I find a place to rest

[Chorus: Chester Bennington & Mike Shinoda]
I wanna be in another place
I hate when you say you don't understand
(You'll see it's not meant to be)
I wanna be in the energy, not with the enemy
A place for my head

[Bridge: Chester Bennington]
You try to take the best of me, go away
You try to take the best of me, go away
You try to take the best of me, go away

[Breakdown: Chester Bennington]
You try to take the best of me, go away!
You try to take the best of me, go away!
You try to take the best of me, go away!
You try to take the best of me, go away!
You try to take the best of me, go away!
[Chorus: Chester Bennington & Mike Shinoda]
I wanna be in another place
I hate when you say you don't understand
(You'll see it's not meant to be)
I wanna be in the energy, not with the enemy
A place for my head

[Outro: Chester Bennington & Mike Shinoda]
Stay away!
I am so sick of the tension, sick of the hunger (Stay!)
Sick of you actin' like I owe you this
Find another place to feed your greed (A!)
While I find a place to rest
And I'm so sick of the tension, sick of the hunger (Way!)
Sick of you actin' like I owe you this
Find another place to feed your greed (Stay away from me!)
While I find a place to rest

I love how they combine rap, hip hop, and rock altogether

the voice of Chester Bennington is the sickest voice of all rock bands. This guy was genius and a legend for ever. RIP

I have not commented on a linkin park song since... Well everyone knows what happened... But I want to show my gratitude to this amazing band. They have saved my life and countless others. The fact that Chester is now gone HURTS. I just want to thank him from the bottom of my heart!!! Forever grateful to him and everyone else in Linkin Park. To anyone else that's out there... You are not alone... Talk to someone anyone... Someone will hopefully hear you

If you're still listening to this masterpiece, you've a good taste in music.

Fun fact:
Along with the key singles: Papercut, One Step Closer, Crawling and In The End, this is the only song from Hybrid Theory that has been performed live, at least once, in their concerts after the release of a new Studio Album; even the single "Points Of Authority" wasn't played during the ATS period. A Place for My Head was the only song (not single) from HT that survived until 2017; not to mention that is one of the very first songs they made, in the Xero era, “Esaul” was its demo.

I suffered from a form of depression for about 6/7 years. Linkin Park was the band I always used to listen to because the lyrics described my feelings most of the time..
It's hard for me to know that Chester killed himself, because now I'm clean and happy again. I really hoped he also would get trough it..
I want to thank the whole band for helping me trough a hard time and make me the person I am today. RIP Chester. Linkin Park is and will be forever a part of me and my life, thank you ♡

The way how Chester Bennington vocalized in 1:20 while Mike Shinoda rapping give me chills down my spine how beautiful Chester's vocals were.
