I've been promising this for a while. Sorry it took so long...

@TokerMate ssd are currently sold with small storage spaces because producers try to milk the depreciating value of technology as much as possible. In the future high transfer rates will be great because I wont have to wait an hour or 2 to back up terabytes of data.

@LShiznit It is brand new technology - compare SSDs to standard HDDs. Not experimental in the way that they're still dangerous, experimental in the way that they're still being worked on.

Love it! super crazy speed you must love your job.

"Rated speeds may vary slightly depending on the benchmark used, drivers, windows version, bios version and file size. We recommend using ATTO, IOMeter, and PC Mark Vantage for benchmarking SSDs and to achieve maximum rated specifications. "

Crystal Mark will not bench at rated speeds.
Furthermore, do not over benchmark your SSD, unless you want to slow it down!

I thought you were going to test it on 8x 32GB OCZ Onyx SSDs but oh well.

I already have 1 of the Vertex 2 E60GB SSDs and I can vouch for it as being the best addition to my i7 crossfire 5870 rig.

i'd love to see a video of you compairing a computer with 1SSD boot and shutdown times vs that machine vs a regular old HDD

Thats insane bro, I've got a 250gb c300 but my read is only 400 and write 150. I was thinking of getting another for raid but I really want to keep TRIM going.

how far away is the rackmount video that you were promising us linus! hopefully you end up doing it. theres not many videos on youtube doind rack installations. thumbs up if you agree he should do it.

@TheAslanDA those numbers look fine the only thing about today’s ssd's is that there performance actually degrades over time that and the cost is one of the reasons why I’m not going to invest in ssd's until the technology is more refined and the price goes down.

ZOMG! WOW. I cant even imagine using a bunch of top of the line crucial C300s in RAID 0 on this raid card would yield..

So that's what those special SATA cables are fore. Was looking at these in the system the other day and was wondering what the hell they were for.

@RichardWenborn Modern SSD's will actually last longer than HDD's. Look up the MTBF's for both. SSD's are rated at about 1 million hours where as HDD's are at about 100, 000. It may sound crazy but SSD's are actually MUCH more reliable than HDD's.

@zzaherr

Maybe, I don't know. BTW, a SSD os going to come out with speed of 1.5Gb/s but with 11K $ price. :D

That is an insane setup that someone will probably never use :P Very cool tho!
what about the CooliT Vantage vs the Corsair H70 that you promised? :(

So now the interface / bus bandwidth is becoming the bottle neck, then. Amazing.

That's incredible bro, I have a single 250gb c300 and I only push 350 read and 150 write!

this is fucking insane =D

I really like the texture on the ocz ssd's, they look really cool IRL.

I was going to be impressed, but now disappointed since knowing that the agility 3 or vertex 3 can do 1000MB/s sequential read with only 2 drives in a raid. I would love to see if possible 8 vertex 3 in a raid 0 setup. thanks

yup i agree, should do some real world test =) like startup and stuff
