Always thought my white, no pattern coverlet looked more classy than my plaid, so people could get beyond my taste and envision themselves there. Thanks for changing my mind. Those kitchens looked so much larger without the clutter on cabinets! We too passed on homes that were painted garish colors even though they were "priced to sell". By the time we are ready to sell, we'll get more money just because of your fantastic tips and ideas! Thanks a bundle, Lou!

That is so true. People like to fill every square inch of their house with “ stuff “ and having too many small rugs on the floor looks really tacky, and that is not only when staging but for everyday living.

I hate clutter. Our house is shades of gray and light blue. It's tiny by today's standards but It's ours. Your staging mistakes we did most of those fixes and the first person to look at my parents house bought it a few months ago. Great list, Lou! xoxo

I would love to see more on how to “dress” a bed. I add some throw pillows and have a bed spread in lieu of a comforter, but this is making me wonder if it’s the equivalent of showing up to a restaurant in a bathing suit (not naked, but close).

Yes. Some of the homes we have looked at recently have had bright turquoise, purple and other bright colors. I don’t want to have to repaint all that so we move on.

Great tips. Personally I would not remove rugs at the front and back doors as prospective buyers need to wipe their feet while entering the home. One more thing, all items attached to the fridge should be removed.

The pictures you showed of comforters are actually duvets without a duvet cover. A comforter does not come in two parts as the decorative fabric is the outer fabric whereas duvets are sold seperately from duvet covers.
