Serious Beaver fan here. I think everyone in the Dam is excited after seeing what Chiles did at the spring game, and we're looking past DJU. I think we'll see Chiles in the games against the MWC team early in the season, but they'll try to retain his redshirt...for whatever reason. Chiles has already had an impact on the program. He's been active in recruiting, and there's been a noticeable improvement in the WR talent looking at OSU. If you want to see what Chiles can do, watch the OSU spring game. He drops a couple of passes that are beyond some NFL QBs, and he flashed his mobility. I'm comping him to Oregon's Dennis Dixon from years ago; big arm, elusive, and lethal once he commits to the run. The Beavers are rock solid going into 2023, if DJU performs just at the level he did at Clemson last year, they will vie for the PAC championship and a playoff berth. They could go undefeated with their schedule, and I'm only concerned about the UW game.

Duck fan here, but I’m putting Oregon State as a top pac12 nightmare for the rest, the kids that are transferring in, top notch, recruits same, cause they want to play for Smith, to me that’s the difference, you can see it on the field, this year is going to be fun to watch

I am a USC fan but I do lean to Oregon State because I like the coach. The PAC-12 has 6 in the top 25 same as the SEC.

if coach smith gets multiple 4 and 5 star recruits that program will be scary no matter what conference they end up in and with chiles only being a freshman Oregon state could be in the conversation for a championship

Jonno Smith has done a HELL of a job up there. And he's actually from SoCal, so it makes total sense that he can successfully lure uber-talented California kids to head to Corvallis.

They're never gonna blow anyone away in recruiting, but Oregon State is on the rise for a reason. They're still an old school, developmental program that sends surprising numbers of kids to the NFL. I'd like to think OSU is like Pitt in the ACC or Mississippi State in the SEC: not flashy, not a ton of successful gridiron history, but they play their asses off and are always a trendy upset pick.

Very excited to see both DJU and Chiles. We haven't had big names or big potential recruits like Chiles for as long as I can remember. Chiles will the future of the Beavs for sure!

Just to give some insight on what you had said about Gebbia fizzling out in the program. He was an exceptional teammate, coach and all around great person. We were all so happy to have him in an Oregon State beavers jersey.

Terry Baker won the Heisman as OSU quarterback in 1962.

I was sad to see Jonathan Smith leave Washington to coach OSU, he’s really good at getting the most out of the 3 star guys. It could be scary if he starts getting a lot of 4 stars. I’m bummed Chiles passed on UW, Coach Kalen DeBoer s system seems like a good fit for him and he could’ve learned a lot from Michael Penix. I think you’re right about DJ starting the season.

Great vid Scott! So, the QB job for 2023 season is going to be a war!!! Yes D.J. could be amazing!! I'm pulling for him!! AC, wow, looks unbelievable!! So excited to see him. But, I'm sorry, don't over look Big Ben. 2022 Las Vegas Bowl MVP, Ben Gulbranson. Ben followed up his worst passing game of the year in civil war, with MVP performance in the bowl game. Against an SEC team, granted a mediocre one. But still. He's young as well. He likely is maturing in the QB roll as I write. I think offense scheme knowledge is huge and Ben def has that in his tool bag. You can have all the talent in the world but if you miss the right check down, who cares. I think Fall camp Beaver QB position battle is going to be on of the hottest in the country. I have no idea who to call but I'm rooting for all three and not ruling out Big Ben in any way, shape, or form. Kid phenom, vs. the slighted superstar, vs the grizzled veteran. May the best player win the start!
