It's interesting because normally a fat character gets made fun of because of his weight, it's written as something of a character flaw, the idea that they were too lazy or gluttenous to keep in shape. Meanwhile this show as a main character who's weight isn't exactly some sort of flaw, often his size helps him, and far more often his weigth never comes into the story at all, and he's just a normal guy who happens to be fat, Albert is never made to be a character that we should look down upon, inspite of the series throwing in gags like this occasionally.
