I never knew fn+ f12 was record as well, you can also record by pressing crtl + space bar (idk what control is for mac, i guess command) AND is you have a full keyboard you can record with the number 3 on the numberpad 🤓

On Pro Tools crashes, I've discovered that it has a nasty habit of crashing more often than my older DAW, SONAR. And I have a recent PC Audiolabs computer designed specifically for music production, with all the bells and whistles.
So I learned the hard way through much aggravation and cursing, hit that Command/S or Ctrl/S OFTEN!

For separate regions is much better press only B instead ctrl+E and for trim region as you did from start to cursor is A and trim from end to cursor S. Anything is not simplest than this. For zooming is the simplest way hold alt key and mouse wheel. I think that you have inspirated by manuals not experience. O man, are you serious? For punch REC fn+f12 🤦‍♂️ press simple 3
