Skoda Octavia RS 2021 review | hot vRS wagon tested | Chasing Cars

We drive the new Skoda Octavia RS and see what this sporty wagon is like to drive.

Is the new Skoda Octavia RS a great value buy? Packing a practical wagon body style, acres of space, plenty of premium features and a handsome design for $62,000 on the road, the top-shelf Octavia has plenty going for it. While the fourth-gen 2021 Octavia shares its MQB platform with the old version, the design inside and out is all new. It’s also more expensive now, though – so is the Skoda worth the money?

The RS version of the Skoda Octavia is more or less a Golf GTI in a more practical body. A large hatchback is available, or you can opt for the more popular station wagon body. That’s what we would do.

In today’s video, Tom takes a detailed look at the new high-spec Skoda Octavia RS DSG to give you detailed insights about this vehicle.

A few audio issues in the driving shots we worked hard to overcome. Sorry, folks.

Great review mate. I love when you highlight things like being able to turn off the fake exhaust noise. Keen drivers love hearing that stuff.

I love that red color and that black accents.

Bravo! You are the first reviewer I've watched on YouTube to call out the low rent plastics on the rear door trims! Also, there is an absence of sill plates on the rear door openings. To me, these are major let downs and I am still undecided if this will be the perfect next car. My test drive is coming soon.

This would be great with a manual box and a few thousand cheaper. As always, great review.

I'm driving my second Rs sedan and love it.

I wish someone would assess suspension when the boot is actually loaded up with a lot of weight, and how handling changes.

Great car but 60k is way too expensive.😳

Great review as always. Thanks Tom. Perfect family car aside from the retention of the low Euro spec tow ball download. I wish Skoda would adjust for our market as Subaru and Hyundai/Kia do. At 80 kg, it even excludes many hitch mount bike carriers, let alone a small camper.

The Octavia is a great package and would be high on my list for my next car and the RS wagon would be a great car to own. More roomy than a golf wagon more compact than a Passat and with no performance version of the Golf wagon it’s a no brainier

Another excellent review. I think this Octavia would be a superior option to the Subarus at present

Personally a big fan of VW group but with the price over 60k now, the Stinger feels like a no brainer. Twin turbo V6 all day everyday!

Great review Tom. Will you be getting a 110 to review as well? Interested in your thoughts on the Ambition and Style.

Another professional job Tom. Well done. Sorry, but I’m not paying $60k+ for the cheapy brand of the VW group that still can’t get soft touch door cards on all four doors. I previously owned a Fabia 81TSI wagon which I thought offensive when they tried to charge me $30k for the fully optioned version with out the dumb non-opening full glass roof. As a detailer I see many vehicles and the latest VW Tiguan 162TSI still has hard plastic door cards and most of the dash which my clients are optioning up for over $70k drive away!!! I really like the VW group products as packages, but the individual products are ‘annoying to own’ as a clients owner of a Q5 S-line said recently. He has turned his back on Audi and just bought a fully optioned Mazda CX-5 Akera. Just as luxurious he said for half the replacement cost of another Q5. To be relevant in 2021, this Octavia vRS should be $10k cheaper. Then it would just be a matter of waiting for the cabriolet version to be born 😎 Lloyd

The lack of a manual option is so disappointing

I’d rather a good old station wagon with car like driving than an SUV. Nice car

Audio in the driving section sounded a bit off, did you have audio issues and thank god you can turn off that awful artificial engine noise, it would get annoying on a long trip.
