We’ve already discussed the project of Climate Pledge Arena, and if you missed the video, you may watch it now. Today we’ll look at what the future main Seattle hockey and basketball stadium will look like from inside. It has wonderful design, and you probably know that the construction workers had to save the roof which is the architectural heritage in Seattle. This made it extremely hard to enlarge the stadium and to build it basically from scratch under the same roof, but they did it!

Now the Climate Pledge Arena is nearly finished, and they are working inside. It means that soon we’ll see the first matches of Seattle Storm in WNBA and also hockey games of Seattle Kraken in NHL. Also, the arena will be used for concerts and other events which are already planned for a year or two. Will it be more comfortable for visitors? Will it be more spacious than before? Let’s see.

Wow it would of been cheaper to build a new stadium back in 07 and we would still have the Sonics

This is much nicer than what Hansen proposed.

But for the content creators, you didn’t look very far if you truly couldn’t find other arenas concerned about their waste and the environmental impact on climate change.

Golden 1 Center in Sacramento is the only arena in the world to be 100% solar powered & achieve LEED Platinum designation. All green waste (vegetable trimmings, protein trimmings and scraps, etc.) is treated as part of a groundbreaking new program called “California Safe Soil”. They treat waste with organic enzymes and process in a giant food digester. After it’s “digested” and then pasteurized, filtered it is put back into the soil at local farms.

All food sold in the arena must be locally sourced within 150 miles.
Leftover fryer oil which is locally produced rice bran oil, is converted to biodiesel by a local, family-run business.

Lastly, the arena itself used recycled concrete from the mall that stood where the arena is now.

I’m sure Chase Center in SF and Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee also have their own plans to reduce their carbon footprint.

Is it too late to be a bandwagon fan for the Kraken?

For me as an Nuremberg IceTigers fan, my eyes almost popped out when I saw Reimer in 2:04 (famous german hockey player, maybe you‘ll know him from the 2018 olympics) 😅😍 Really nice to see my hometown team from germany in this section (and pretty random as well), but I liked it! Nice video, I‘m really excited to see how the Kraken will do in this climate friendly arena

Greetings from Germany!

One thing that does not make sense to me is why couldn't this new Key arena be built in 2006 or 2007 when the Sonics team needed a new stadium?

Why did you make it seem like it’s super uncommon for arenas to have hockey and basketball almost every hockey arena is used for basketball

I believe Carolina has the NHL’s changeover record. They can go from basketball to hockey in 70 minutes

What is this Seattle Storm that everyone is talking about? I have lived in Seattle for 25 years and never heard of it. Are they referring about the gloomy weather?

Theres a skeleton covering the roof. It looks nothing like the key arenas roof. Whats the point of keeping it.
