Welcome to my Locking Fundamentals Series. The videos in this series are designed specifically for dancers who want to strengthen their locking fundamentals. Locking is such an essential part of the hip hop dance culture.

My name is Ceech. I teach. I have been actively dancing, performing, choreographing, and teaching professionally since 1998. I learned directly from members of the Electric Boogaloos. I'm honored and proud to share with you what I have learned.

In this episode, we are drilling The Scoobot. We have multiple drills that are designed to give you the training you need to master this move. You must put in the work, the hours of practice. I promise to give you the information and show you how; however, you will never learn this the right way if you don't actually do the work. You can't learn to dance by only watching videos. You must actually dance.

Each tutorial video provides specific dance-a-long drills to practice along with me. Each drill is about 1 minute long. It should be enough to build muscle memory and dance coordination. The challenge is to keep up with me throughout the entire drill in all of the drills. If you can’t keep up at first, try again tomorrow or at a later time because building coordination takes time and patience. If you are ready, I’ll see you in the drills. Enjoy, have fun, and let’s make it funky.

Use the table of content to skip to a specific drill.

You’re really an excellent teacher! Your explanations are so clear, thorough and easy to follow. I have learned the Scoobot once, but didn’t exactly know how every steps come together until I saw this episode. Thanks!

I chanced upon your vids looking for old battles of a certain locker with no intention of participating, but ended up joining in :p
just wanted to say that you have made the best use of technology, editing and timestamping for teaching movement that I have ever seen so far, with the reviews right after great for anyone learning wanting to refine their art, and the history snippets added in too (which is important in the context of locking). It really shows your dedication. Kudos
