I remember listening to this song about 10 years ago for the very first time. I was so young and hadn't experienced a bit of life yet. It was significant to me then...but I understand the lyrics and meaning behind the song so much better now. I'm not sure if I should be mourning the loss of my innocence or celebrating the expance of my experience. Maybe just a little of both. I remember chasing my dreams, which entailed migrating from my home country to England in search of a quality education and an improved life. Within the days leading to my travel, I abruptly began feeling nostalgic, Mike's songs got me through, even in the hardeest moments. The most awe-inspiring of songs was "Riding to New York". Back in 2014 my 22 y.o. best friend passed away. I was far from home studying in Edinburgh and it was a tough time for me. Mike did some of his busking/street concerts on the royal mile amb for the first time I heard his music. His music has always resonated with me since then.
