The largest makeshift hospital in Shanghai was put into use on Saturday to aid the megacity's fight against resurging COVID-19.
The hospital, converted from the Shanghai National Exhibition and Convention Center, covers about 600,000 square meters with a capacity of 50,000 beds.
More than 25,000 builders took four days and night complete the conversion of the hospital.
The temporary hospital is fully equipped with treatment rooms, nurse stations, rooms for storing and disposing contaminated wastes, as well as rest areas for staff outside to separate them from those infected with coronavirus.
There are also eight designated hospitals with around 8,000 bed capacity.
In total, Shanghai had built more than 100 makeshift hospitals with more than 160,000 beds.
Meanwhile, the rest of China is ramping up efforts to bring relief goods to Shanghai to aid the city's fight against COVID-19.
More than 38,000 medics from 15 provincial-level regions nationwide have rushed to Shanghai.
Shanghai reported 1,006 confirmed and 23,937 asymptomatic domestically transmitted COVID-19 cases on Sunday, a new record. The city has reported about a total of 150,000 infections since March 1.
