I used to work in a UK factory where we built & tested GVX210 cards back in 1998 or so. Fun times

3dlabs oxygen has T&L capacity, not 3dfx ! Why this is not activated in 3dmark2001 ?

Unbelievable Voodoo 5 in a box i have two voodoo 2 but they are broken, they are showing artifacts but still i admire how awesome they are but Voodoo 5 and in a box crazy

when testing Oxygen VX1 (single Glint R3 chipset), i saw that the card doesent like "high quality" textures or fast texture loading/movement or trilinear filtering, actually nothing with textures :) .
I did see a nice speed improvement when using bilinear textures or lower texture quality or both...

I might be wrong but oxygen look much better in quake 3 next to the voodoo. The textures look crisp and sharp when on the voodoo they look blurry and washed also to much contrast on the voodoo (hides some of the problems). With this sad i still love the V5 5500 :D!

The Texture Filtering seems superb on the 3Dlabs. Ists crisp to the end. The VOODOO 5 does not use the same quality settings. So thats maybe the reason the 3DLABS card does not takeoff that much.

good comparison, I wonder if 3dlabs invested more into drivers and game optimization if they could compete more. But again, a completely different market and completely different prices. Now you can't buy a 3dfx v5 for cheap, but the oxygen cards are cheap

I remember my Intel Pentium2-450Mhz, 128Mb Ram, with a Creative nVIDIA Riva TNT 2 Ultra 32Mb would score 1600 in 3D Mark 2001 on Windows 98SE

Voodoo's were throwing Full HD and 1440 before it was popular, amazing!

Interesting how the Voodoo card needs external power, just like on a modern GPU.

Colors seem more crisp in 3dfx. Oxygen a little faster.

Tenhle test krásně ukazuje, že každá karta má úplně jiné zaměření a v čem je dobrá. V každém případě obě jsou to krásné karty.

Hello retro hardware. I will have a question for you. I want to find a 16gb ram supported motherboard with 775 socket xeon processor and overclock the processor, fill all the ram slots on the motherboard. I want to install gtx 1050ti on this computer. Do you think I would have done anything good? thanks for your answer.
