Ellen Burnstyn said in an interview last year that they filmed all of her stuff first due to her age and that they offered her a lot of money to be in it and she turned it down, they offered her more and she turned it down. They said what will it take to get you to do this film, she said a scholarship program for the Actors Studio. They accepted.

Both of these young girls are so mature for their ages. Extremely intelligent and well spoken. Very impressive!

The original wasn’t so much “scary” as it was disturbing, and haunting. I think that really keeps it timeless

the young girls are honestly very good actors and deserved the role in this movie

The original Exorcist didn't rely on "jump scares" so much as just internal thoughts, the possibilities of evil possessing you, distorting you, and possibly killing you. The whole idea of demons entering your body or your child's body is horrifying and terrifying more than you can say and to see it develop and again distort the person was hideously sick. The voices were also very horrific and terrifying as well. Plus as others have said the way the demons face was morphed into the actresses face was subliminally scary and unnerving. The first Exorcist did things that nobody had even thought about. Most weren't even aware of this possibility or chance it could or was happening somewhere and that terrified people. This movie struck a nerve, a very deep nerve. Back then in the 70's times were different which is also why THIS movie will NOT be able to match the original Exorcist. For one, evil back then was not embraced like it is nowadays. People seem to love evil, bad, twisted. ?? Back then it wasn't as accepted or acceptable. Movies like this set 50 years apart can do well but to even think it could match or equal the initial fear the first Exorcist a chance.

The guys who couldn't even understand what makes a Halloween movie, have no hope of understanding something as complex, nuanced and layered as an Exorcist movie!

I love forward to the amazing heart wrenching scene when Reagan shows up in the final moments with the Infinity Gauntlet and the music stops, a record scratch happens, Reagan looks directly into the camera and says to Pazuzu "The power of me compels you!" and then the song "I'm just a girl" plays over the soundtrack as an over the top CGI fight happens.

I just came back from the theater a little while ago and honestly as much as I will always love the original, this movie was a hundred thousand times scarier and I LOVE it!!! 😀

Well done behind the scenes - nuanced and serious about its subject.

The original Exorcist film has a mojo that cannot be replicated, repeated or topped, period.

To this day, the only movie that has ever truly scared me long after I watched it was the original The Exorcist. It came out on my 1st birthday in 1972 but I watched it when I was about 8 years old and going to a Catholic School, where they actually taught you the horrors of hell and all that nonsense (I doubt they do that anymore but back in those days, they wanted to scare you into believing). I already suffered from horrible nightmares and that movie didn't help me at the time. Of course now as an adult who doesn't believe in all that, I can appreciate the movie for what it is. But there is still that small area in the back of my mind that always makes me wonder if it's real. Looking forward to seeing this new movie! But the original film will always be the best in my opinion.

Whether this movie is good or bad, I have to praise the makeup in this one. None of the previous movies have come close to Dick Smith's makeup work in the original classic but this movie come very close. Plus having Ellen Burstein back is just wonderful, I can't wait to see this.

Ellen Burstyn and William Shatner need to tell us the secret to looking that good at 90 years. They barely look 60.

I am 22 and have never seen The Exorcist because my parents wouldn't wouldn't let me watch it. I considered myself a "horror fanatic" until I saw this on my birthday, the release date! I am scarred for life😂 I'm also terrified of watching the original Exorcist😂😊
