Given how the USA isn't giving any security guarantees to Ukraine, this is a big move on Turkey's part, as NATO second biggest army

I saw a chart that listed different countries' opinions on the USA and Russia.

Turkey had basically a single-digit positive opinion on both. Now that the USA and Russia are firmly on the same side, it's no surprise Turkey have thrown their weight in the other direction.

Turkey, unlike the United States, has always supported Ukraine and its territorial integrity.
While Europe sent military boots to Ukraine, Turkey sent armored infantry carriers, drones and training personnel

0:30 None of these are new. It has always been the stance of Turkey. Infact it was a few European nations which vetoed against Ukraine, while Turkey was in full support of them entering NATO.

Another reason I am thinking of is turkey prefers a weaker Russia because that’s less competition in gaining influence over the Middle East
Assad is gone taking with him a chunk off Russia and Iran’s influence. If Russia remains busy in Ukraine Turkey can spread its influence in the Middle East with lower competition

As a Turk, I find myself supportive of my government's foreign policy for the first time in years here.

Turkey is the only Nato member who downed a Russian fighter jet with a direct attack, in the latest years, anybody in nato would dare?

Please don't forget the Crimean Tatars who fled Crimea under soviet rule, and when russia annexed Crimea in 2014. Those that couldn't flee suffered terrible torture under the russians. They have an annual Crimean conference in Turkey, where some of them settled.
The other reason is they want to dominate the Black Sea & part of Azov Sea.

It's simple, the US switched sides and the teams were auto-balanced.

Turkey’s heart is with Ukraine, but wallet is with Russia. Turkey always supported Ukraine’s territorial integrity. Turkey has been pro Ukraine, but cutting relations with Russia would have a heavy burden on economy. Turkey also had to dance with the bear in Syria. Now Russia is out of Syria. Turkey does not have this burden in Syria. However, trade with Russia crucial for the already crippled Turkish economy.

Just think 🤔 about it ..The Turkish military is larger than that of France Germany Italy and the UK combined! It has more drones than all of Europe combined.
