Rockwool is fantastic stuff but at current prices it's a luxury item.

6:10 - can you replace the "ice and water shield" layer with Zip-R sheathing???

So this roof is unvented? Wouldn't the Ice and water shield be better off on top of the upper roof deck not the lower rood deck?

Aren’t you creating a water dam by putting those boards stood up on edge running perpendicular to the roof slope? This also does not allow the rockwool to drain if it gets wet. Do I have this wrong!

I like the Rockwool product, don't get me wrong, but with 2x in between, it is not a continuous insulation layer.

Use 4 inch 4x8 sheets of styrofoam. A layer or 30# felt, the styrofoam a layer of 7/16 osb another layer of 30# felt and then standing seam metal roofing. The sheets of styrofoam are nested side by side. The osb is screwed down with 5 in screws. No gaps. I did that 10 years ago.

Rockwool has been around for over a decade yet comfortbat is only sometimes at Lowes in limited sizes and comfortboard is hardly available at all. I needed a limited amount of comfortbpard for a project. I resorted to an acoustic systems company. Material and shipping cost was insane.

The homeowner doesn't deserve this roof. He has to be convinced by the builders and his real concern is noise.

Can't imagine how low his utility bills will be for doing all this work up front. Hopefully one day when he sees his electric bill he'll get it.

My question is there will be a 1" gap from the comfort 110 to the top of the 2x6 wont that be a condensed gap

Comfortbatt is nearly impossible to find anywhere let alone comfortboard. Rockwool has had massive supply issues for years now. Some of the big box stores can rarely let you order an entire pallet at once. Good luck if you come up short. Not to mention the prices have sky rocketed that really make this difficult to justify using especially on applications like this. Then add the labor costs of working with a totally unique product and design and unless you are a lottery winner no way this makes sense. Polyiso and things like hunter panels cool-vent or atlas cross vent panels make way more sense at a fraction of the cost and labor.

Anyone have a Comfortboard 110 supplier?

does this cost a lot? cause ive seen people saying that

Is this method used only on a pitched roof? Could it be done on a gabled roof?

Wouldn't it been more cost effective to over frame with 2X4 lumber and insulate with high density spray foam? Same R-Value with added structural benefits.

"this is a money maker." You bet. How to double the price of the roof, in 20 mins.

little dubious on all this. the dimensional lumber running inbetween would cause thermal bridging. Insulation works best when it's continous. The guy said it, it's easy for them and a money maker but it's really not optimal otherwise. Especially when you paying big bucks.

I legitimately can’t believe Roxul features this video. It’s a terrible example of how to use Roxul comfort board.
