What Is Videoblocks All About - An Impartial Review

A 2017 review of the Videoblocks stock footage service. This is truthful, honest, unsponsored and somewhat opinionated view of what the subscription really offers and why people sometimes have the wrong expectation of it.

I'm a little bored of hearing about VideoBlocks through people advertising it at the start or end of their videos. I don't want a sponsored review where everything is made out to be wonderful and exactly what you need. So I decided to look at the service myself and discuss the good and bad so you can make an educated decision as to whether it's the right service for your needs.

This video is split into 2 main sections.

• Firstly I look at 3 reasons why the service tends to not be well trusted.

• Secondly I look at the site itself and what you get with an account. I also discuss the VideoBlocks business model together with an example of the difference between generic stock footage and real stock footage.

It's a scam. I just bought an "unlimited" membership and found out that it's limited. When I tried to immediately cancel my membership and get a refund, they informed me that they won't issue refunds. They sold me an "unlimited" membership and got a membership that's limited.

I have loads of 4k close in footage of the moon. Wonder what they pay. :) Nice video mate. Its good to get an angle from these kind of services for someone that hasn't used them.

I think I might be having a bit of a mental block on this one.

If I understand this correctly, you pay an annual subscription to the service and then are offered chargable content to buy? Is this right? If so, what does the annual subscription get you?

I disagree with everyone it seems. Videoblocks is great value for money and has loads of clips on a variety of subjects. You pay a very low yearly sum, become a member and have free access to all the clips in the members library. Yes, there are other clips in the 'marketplace' which are outside of my membership deal and I would have to pay for, but the clips in the membership library are good and I have used them in a number of projects. For the cost of a yearly subscription, the variety and quality of clips in the member library is excellent. I will subscribe for my third year in October.
