95% of Everyone I know lasted max 1 to 3 years at Morgan stanley, Deutsche Bank, Goldmans sachs etc. Even just doing 1 year was good for exit options as recruiters knew you had some minor experience to build on and had been through selective recruitment process. Only 1 guy stuck it out for 21 years and finally made it to MD at 46 in New York. Still very young but his body and 2 failed marriages took a toll. Most have found better options as a start up or in private equity.

But isn‘t IB analyst/associate the best job for great exit opportunities or are there any other where you are able to move to the buy side?

What do most people do after IB - other than Private Equity and Hedge Funds.

Ben how often did you pull all nighters during your prior IB career? Were there times when you had to skip sleep for days in a row?

Or you can work in the back office, become an expert on the business and make very good money as a freelancer.
