"You don't have to believe in my imaginary friend to be a good person, but if you *don't* believe in my imaginary friend, you're one step away from the atrocities of WWII." ~Prager 2017

What PragerU really means is this: "Because things are getting better despite our so called Judeo-Christian values, these values apparently are not the cause...and we are losing power, and that makes us sad :( "
Voidsworn
Prager U must be spending a ton of money on advertising. I can't tell you how many ads I've seen from them here on youtube.

He's using "opinion" in a pejorative way, but let's run with it.
I have shooting pains in my chest. I ask my asshole brother and he says its indigestion. I ask a certified cardiologist and he says it's a heart attack. Now according to Prager logic, these are both opinions. And since they are both opinions I don't have grounds to trust either one more than the other.
Just because something is opinion doesn't mean it's frivolous or arbitrary.
JEQvideos
You phrased what I thought then I first saw this much more smoothly then me. Keep up the good content TMM.

And Prager is starting to look like those future zombies in the movie "The Omega Man".
MrOttopants
Doesn't Prager understand that pointing out the inherent flaws in his overall argument without really addressing them doesn't do anything to mitigate them, and actually proves that the whole argument that morality comes from god falls flat on its face from the outset?
Anglomachian
I find it interesting (and kinda funny) that Prager acknowledges that belief (or lack thereof) in the Judeo-Christian god does not make one less (or more) likely to commit actions considered immoral, and then goes on to make exactly that implication. It's like he had a Big-Lipped Alligator Moment right in the middle of his video.

I'm always baffled whenever a Christian argues about "moral relativism". It is a very common position for Christians today to believe that Jesus will forgive everything if you accept him. So not only can we point to God somehow being unable to prevent people from doing evil, but also to the point that if everything can be forgiven by Jesus, there is no practical difference between good and evil in their worldview.
If god forgives everything, then all is permitted and that takes it a step further than moral relativism; that is just anarchy.
TheTdroid
Oh no oh no the horror of "Opinion"!
That's what I got from all his excess verbiage.

Ok, so for crime rates I'm gonna consult a philosopher, not a statistician... Great video as always

I like how the "evil believer" has a priest collar. Perhaps a pointed statement of the Christian groups he doesn't like?
SadisticSenpai
Have you considering writing a book? You are probably my favorite YouTube channel to watch, and I would love to see your thoughts printed on paper and sitting in my bookshelf alongside other great thinkers.
cadecampbell
Just another appeal to consequences fallacy. This guy seriously is a derp!
dienekes
so here's a fact: belief in a God and his "moral commands" is merely an opinion
Fraterchaoraterchaos
Compare and contrast:
China: 90% atheist/non-religious; prison population 1.5 m / 1382m total population; 0.00118% of total population in prison
USA: 70% Christian; prison population 2.2 m / 325m total population; 0.00737% of total population in prison
So an almost entirely non-religious country with more than 4 times the population of USA has both a lower absolute number of prisoners, and a lower relative number as well
nrellis
I love the complaints about moral relativism.
The Euthyphro dilemma proves that authority-based moral systems leads to the most extreme form of moral relativism. Divine Command Theory makes a mockery of the very idea of objective morals, but on the other hand, they insist that the existence of objective morality proves their god.
tofu_golem
Prager is a complete derp but at least he has a nice voice
(lmao)

How is what counts as moral behavior in the eyes of a good god any less subjective for the believer than what counts as moral behavior in the eyes of a good person is for the nonbeliever?
