Same in germany here, every boy liked Bonanza but LOVED Dan /Hoss. Everybodys best Buddy in dreams.
The last season end ending of Hoss at Bonanza wasnt shown here, i think.
I think he would be surprised and happy to know that after 60 years he is still the most beloved Character of that Show and still not only unforgotten, he IS Bonanza.

I remember this event vividly. Dan Blocker was a kind, generous man who made time for things that most would not. That year I was in 8th grade, and a huge fan of the show. I heard you could write a fan letter to Mr. Blocker, and that sometimes he even wrote back. So I sat down and wrote a letter saying why I was a fan. A couple of weeks later, I got a reply in the form of a short letter, along with an autographed picture. It was something that meant the world to 13 yr old me. The show was just never the same. Someday when I am able, I will pay my respects personally.

My buddy's Mom was a waitress at a restaurant he ate at all the time. She said he was the biggest guy she ever saw, had a huge laugh, and was very nice to all the staff. Said he could really put away the beer too, but never became drunk.

I didn't know his passing caused the show to end - but I believe it. He was the best! I was born in 1954 and watched Bonanza as long as it was on TV. Hoss was my favorite character; just like everyone else.

I’m 60 now. When I was a child, my parents and I would watch Bonaza just about every week. It really was a good TV Western. It showed that being tough was a good thing, but only if your toughness was used for good purposes.

Oh my God when I was a young kid bonanza was my favorite TV show. The character seemed to be so real and honest and it’s to be honest it was a great show, I never knew what happened to big Dan I just now all of a sudden the show stopped, till I saw this on YouTube all these years are not knowing where he went and why, wow this is just like a stab in the back, I always liked him on the show. He was so kind. Too big Dan you’re an angel now and in a much better place if you saw the way the world is today it would make you sick. We all miss you my big angel. Hope to meet you someday when I get to heaven and all the rest of my loved ones.. 💔. Biker Dave.🤘

Yep, it was tragic. My now late mama also had a gall bladder operation in 1972, but survived & lived until April 2015 & finally died from a terrible stroke aat 84. Anyway, I still watch Bonanza in reruns in syndication on me-tv. During our July 1974 visit to Hollywood Wax museum in Buena Park, California, there was a life like statue of character Hoss late Dan Blocker along with several other Hollywood legends.

Always loved how sweet Hoss came off. Loved Adam! He just let the other characters lead their stories it seemed.
