The Goochland Groundhogs of Goochland, Virginia send their love to Gardener Jeff and the Chunks! I was in prison for a couple of years in Goochland, Virginia and the prison was home to about 50 adorable groundhogs. Life can be very dark in prison, and the groundhogs gave us inmates such joy, they became our pets and would eat out of our hands. I was actually kind of isolated and in a depression until I started watching the groundhogs, and I began creating a series of groundhog cartoons…it brought me out of my shell and helped me interact more with the other inmates. So you could say that groundhogs saved my life during a very tough time. Thank you so much for taking such good care of these teddy bears on four legs! I don’t miss prison, but I miss my Goochland Groundhogs and your videos remind me of them.

Thank you Gardener Jeff. When I was a kid we always had a garden and groundhogs were not allowed. No cameras then, not in my family anyway, and so we had no idea how cute they were up close. Now I love seeing the Chunk munching away on veggies! So glad you didn't get rid of the Chunk and adopted the family as you have. In this sad world with all the problems going on now, it is so nice to see the Chunk munching away and being a Chunk family without fear! Well done Gardener Jeff!! Much happiness to you and your adopted family of Chunks!!

I totally agree about coexisting. I love to feed the birds, but they were taking chunks out of my blueberries and strawberries. I decided to place netting over them to discourage them from eating them, but I thought I should plant some berries just for them. I bought some native evergreen huckleberry bushes for them and planted them along our fence line. We will get a nice privacy hedge and the birds will get some great berries! ❤️
