Great comparison video! Have you tryed the new Garmin MK2 scuba interface with big numbers? It was a game changer for me. My vision started to be bad and I was having problems to read the computer underwater and now no more problems. It isn't as pretty and colorful as the regular screen, but it is so much more functional on my opinion. I only did 4 dives after discover this new feature, and didn't see the deco screen yet, but I can definitely recommend anyone to at least, try it.

To change, go to menu, Activities & Apps (important, the big numbers option is only available when accessing through the Activities & Apps menu. If you go to the regular diving setup, it will not be there!) Then go to single or multi gas, then settings then you turn on big numbers. (to reverse, just do the same and turn big numbers off.) I don't know the minimum firmware update to have it and know it is not available for the MK1. (A chame, it is even more important in the MK1 small screen!)

I hope you will like it and maybe you could even do a new comparison vídeo using it. I am looking for a new dedicated computer for more serious diving and the Perdix and the DSX are in the top of my list. The Garmin will became my backup computer and travel computer.

Cheers

These kind of reviews are far better than the get it out of the box and "look! whôw! It's got a strap" comments. I have the wish to get a new computer as a retired instructor. Docs are still valid but after 20 years and having kids now I dont dive that often anymore. Occasional holiday dive and 3 locally averaging to 5 per year. My uwatec terra and sol both have the strap broken for the uncountable-th time, so after 15 years it is time for a new gadget right.
What would you recommend? I will not invest in a rebreather nor trimix nor any other tech kit, do sometimes use nitrox. Buhlman has served me fine over my 30 year career, no experience with rgbm other than buds that needed to get out of the water before me. Last few years I dove A.I. with the sol, I had kept that afar for years, but I did like AI.
Peregrine appeals, but no ai, luna2 appeals too but has no reviews. DSX is the underdog I think, or would an eon serve me well recreational diving?
A drill bit and some bungee is the cheap out option.

I’m looking to upgrade from my i770R to either the perdix 2 or the DSX! This was a great review!

Thanks for this companion. My ratings are in line with yours, mostly because of screen clarity and real estate. Although, I cannot wait for Garmin to release an AMOLED version, which may shake things up a bit. That might be the ideal setup for me if air travel is involved. What was up with the Garmin reading 198ft max depth?

Finally, a real review! With Apple entering the recreational diving market and Apeks new DSX monster, I have a feeling Garmin's gearing up an MK3 to rule them all hahaha

Hi Ben,

I'm a new diver and still with 25 dives recreational, I bought the Atmos 1 and I find even with that bright screen I have a hard time reading since I'm 60 and need reading glasses, should I go from now to the Perdix or wait for more dives before going for it. Also, how do you resolve the reading glasses issue ? Do these glue on stickers magnifier work ?

Thank you

Thanks for the comparison! One correction: the brand is called Apeks, not Apex.

Hello, I have a question. Have you synchronized the Apeks DSX with the transmitter? I'm asking because I synchronized mine, but it doesn't show me the air level in the cylinder at all on the display when I'm on the surface or underwater. I'm wondering why this is happening.
