These Cataract Canyon high water rafting shots were taken in 2011 on a Western River Expeditions Cataract Express trip. This 2-Day / 1-Night Express trip through the heart of Canyonlands National Park begins in Moab, Utah and ends at Lake Powell.
You'll camp on the banks of the Colorado River, explore some amazing sites along the river and all meals will be prepared for you. And of course, you'll experience some legendary Cataract Canyon whitewater.
In a typical year, Cataract Canyon reaches peak high water flows of about 40,000 CFS (cubic feet per second). In 1995, Cataract Canyon reached 80,700 CFS on June 19 at its high water peak. The highest recorded flows were on May 27 in 1984 when the river reached 114,900 CFS.
