Dead Realm was a massive game in the YouTube space in summer of 2015. Backed by many big gaming YouTubers such as SeaNanners and Vanoss Gaming, how did a game like this go from being an internet sensation, to closing in just 5 short years? This is the failure of Dead Realm.

I think a big problem of why it failed was it just seemed alot more fun to watch other people play than play yourself. I watched Ohm and Delirious's videos on it alot and while I was entertained by their antics I always thought the game looked kind of boring( I never saw a match where the ghosts didnt win). And yeah while I contributed to view counts I had like zero interest in playing it myself.

Vanoss’ videos on Dead Realm are still to this day one of my favorite video series on his channel, I go back and watch those videos constantly, especially when I’m feeling down. It makes me sad this game died, I enjoyed it quite a lot

I think another thing that helped Dead by Daylight thrive over Dead Realm is that they added killers like Michael Myers to the game which attracts more horror fans to the game and the addition Resident Evil saw it’s player numbers go to the highest it’s ever been

Dead Realm is proof that no matter how powerful your advertising may be, the game can still fail. Also yes I did actually play Dead Realm occasionally from 2016 - 2020.

I used to play dead realm, i think i had like 30 hours in it.
At some when it died out, i tried to launch it to try it again and i just couldn't open it.
I agree with a lot of things you said, cause i felt like the game was just getting so boring with its lack of content and the same gameplay over and over again.

I completely forgot about Dead Realm. This is like a blast from the past. I know I've been watching Vanoss since AT LEAST 2016, but I think I remember watching some Dead Realm videos in the morning (I lived in Germany from 2014 - 2017, so the time difference had a Vanoss video published in early morning and I'd watch it while eating breakfast before school).

First time i searched dead realm in years... Just to realize this beautiful and memorable game just died like that. Vanoss was the first content creator that i watched dead realm from, that was years ago and was still a kid, their reactions playing the game is such a sweet memory. It's a pity to see a game i watched in my childhood die.

DBD has survived for longer because of all their updates, content releases, bug fixes, Dev Made DLCs, and Licensed DLCs and the DEV team's ability to actually listen to the community while also doing things the way they wanted to.

dead realm was incredibly fun and i was one of the lucky few to play it in its prime. i was crying laughing with random people online. you had to be there.

I'm just surprised there was even an issue. Vanoss mentioned I think a couple times that he was working with people on a project, then he mentioned that Dead Realm was that project. I didn't know that people weren't aware that they were involved. 🤷‍♂
