$5K for a bracelet and they can't even replace the damaged ones for free?! That's insane.

For that price you can have a jeweler customize a unique piece of jewelry made of solid gold. Don't waste your money on these kinds of branded jewelry. Personalized jewelry is way better and can be a family heirloom since you decide how sturdy it can be.

Malachite is one of the cheapest stones out there and a huge reason why it’s not often used in fine jewelry. It wears out so easily. Van cleef also uses mother of pearl a lot as well as black onyx, two more very cheap materials. They’re scamming dumb people. I would never pay $250 for a tiny piece of malachite not even worth $1. A fool and his money are soon parted!!!

Some friends of my parents gifted my mother a malachite necklace when I was a little girl. I have kept it because it's a gorgeous piece. For those who do not know; Malachite is a beautiful deep green semi precious gemstone with lighter green striations running throughout.

While beautiful, it's not durable. Going by the Moh's hardness scale; Diamonds are a 10/10, emeralds are an 8/10, opal is a 6/10, pearls are a 4/10, and your fingernails are a 2.5/10.

Malachite is a 3.5-4/10. You should treat any malachite pieces as you treat your pearls. The gems will last a long time if you baby them, but they get scratches and scuffs very easily. If you are careless, the polished finish will wear off quickly.

Some crystals are light and/or water sensitive, just research before buying

I love ALL my jewellery to handle water/travel, heat, sweat, sunlight, sleep, and normal daily wear.

Just curious, did your sales advisor not go over how to take care of your malachite bracelet with you? Usually, they explain for you that certain stones (especially malachite) should not touch water. For mother of pearl, they even have a booklet that customers can get to learn how to take care of their jewelry.

A jewler could polish the stones for much less. They dont look like they need to be replaced.

Malachite is gorgeous but it is a very soft stone and it is not stable in water (any stone ending in “-ite” should be kept away from water).

I think the black onyx stone is the best for durability out of the other ones, looks the best imo as well

That repair price is super cheap compared to the price of the bracelet itself. It tells you a lot about the outrageous markup on their prices.

I honestly don't know why they would make and sell a $5k bracelet that this would happen to. I purchased the black one after I had wanted the mother of pearl one and was told that any moistness or water would shrink the stones. I don't want to worry about paying so much for something that I have to babysit when I wear it 😅😊... I'm actually going Monday to purchase another bracelet and this was one of my options so I'm glad I seen this video... I think I'll go with red 😅

Yes malachite is a beautiful stone but it’s very fragile. I have many vca bracelets but I didn’t get malachite because of the way the stone gets ruined quickly. One of my mother of pearl bracelets has gotten duller because of water. I still wear it daily. Sorry it happened to you.

It's not van cleef fault . It's how someone takes care of bracelet . They warn that this stone is delicate

You didn’t do your research before buying. It’s pretty well documented online how fragile Malachite is especially if you opt for their bracelet. The earrings and necklace tend to avoid this issue since they don’t really come into contact with water as much as a bracelet.

People will actually spend money like this in an overly inflated bracelet, that gets damaged easily and with a thin chain. There’s so many better things to spend this kinda of money or even for 1/4 of the price you could buy much better quality jewellery but because it’s not as identifiable as an expensive luxury item like a Van Cleef people don’t want it, because they want people to think they are rich. LOL only poor or people that can’t afford it buy this stuff, you ain’t giving rich to anyone.

I never understood why big designers use stainless steel for their jewlery and price it as if it’s sterling silver or gold, and I’m not talking about this brand in particular, a regular necklace is around 1, 000$ where I live and to see stainless steel pieces for 1, 700$ that turn green in time no matter how high quality is, is just mindblowing

I have the malachite i bought it 9 years ago still looks new, I do use it but never with another bracelet and i always take it off when i wash my hands. They told me in the store how to take care of each stone. The most durable is the mother of pearl but i know a friend told me that it can get darker on the sides, if she wears darker clothes . The SA was trying to sell the guilloche she said it is the most durable but i saw many youtube videos saying other wise (it can be easily get scratched) In my opinions we should take care of All stones the only ones that we dont need to take care of, is the hammered Alhambra, pure gold no stones .

Do you wear it in the shower? How do you get Van Cleef wet?

Thank you for the warning. Do you have their mother of pearl bracelet? How is the wear and tear on the mop bracelet?
