He is completely guilty and the family knows it and they're trying to protect him.

Mother and sister knows the truth. Their son/brother confessed to them about the murder. You can see it in the mother's eyes.

Murder is murder, take some responsibility for the monster you raised!

That kid makes my skin crawl, and his family are right there with him. He gives an aura of evil and callousness and cold. He wants to be laughing that he’s getting away with murder.

His face when she asked if he’d take a polygraph test said it all. That is the look of a scared guilty person.

It’s more than clear: one side is demanding the truth, and one side is protecting the child

Guilty as sin, and with a mother and sister like that enabling him to lie and dodge justice i'm not surprised he is the psycho he is...

3:33 He hesitated to answer the polygraph test, and then down played the relevance of a polygraph test.. hes guilty.

When you hear of a family member doing what is right and turning in their own child that they know committed a crime, they are choosing to protect society and future innocent victims that might wander into the path of their kid. This family could care less about the dead kid. They know their child is a cold blooded murderer and will do whatever it takes to protect him. No wonder they raised a murderer!!!

This is one that I am not too familiar with. But you guys are right. If this person's son killed someone, then they need to stop protecting them. I would not want my own family to protect me if I did something bad to someone, I would feel bad about it. It seems that there are too many cases of hit and run drivers who have gotten away with taking another person's life, and Dr Phil is right, people deserve answers once and for all.

Mom or the accused boy is gross. I don’t want to talk about who killed your kid I want to talk about how your annoying mine

Burden of proof is on the State to prove guilt, not the defendant to prove innocence…!

I have been accused of something shitty and the first thing I asked for was a polygraph test. If you're innocent, you WANT to clear your name. Not play some idiotic game of word salad

The way that kid is staring at Dr. Phil the whole time. Then when Dr. Phil calls out the mom and she stares into space without moving a muscle. These are not normal people.

This is a very thought provoking clip, where emotion runs into reason. It illustrates beautifully the very significant difference between the Law and Justice. They are not the same thing, and the average Joe in the street naively thinks that the legal system is about justice - beyond a very few outliers where the outcome happens to coincide with perceived justice, the law is mostly about technicality: it's not about what you know to be true, it's about what you can prove. The Law says you are under no obligation to provide information that might incriminate you, and the right to remain silent enshrines that principle. It doesn't matter a jot that the young man might be guilty - he does not have to provide any evidence that might incriminate him in any way, even though that will obviously fly in the face of the emotions and indignation of the family who have lost their son.

FYI. I would never take a polygraph in a criminal proceeding. It can’t be used in court because they were ridiculously unreliable. If you’re telling the truth it can still call you a liar. If you pass, they won’t believe you anyway.

I wish the word “closure” didn’t exist. There’s no such thing.
