May I suggest you react to “Daybreak” at Bastau? He sings in Mandarin. The performance is so incredibly powerful and heartbreaking. It’s a song that was written by Han Hong about a tragic cable car accident in China. A small child was lifted to safety by his parents, but unfortunately his parents didn’t survive the accident. Han Hong later went on to adopt the orphan. Dimash sang it on The Singer competition, but was really sick during the performance. He later sang it at his concert in Bastau, and it is my favorite live performance of his….it’s beyond moving and incredible.

"Ikanaide" (japanese original) and "Autumn Strong" (it`s chinese version) - tell the same story, but with different lyrics, written metaphorically as a separation of people in love - but they actually symbolize the pain of separating from one`s name and country - the true story of a chinese-born japanese actress (Yoshiko Yamaguchi/Li Xiang-lan) - she hid her japanese heritage behind a chinese name, became very loved by the public, but after WWII, her japanese heritage was discovered, she was scorned by the public, arrested, accused of treason and collaborating with the japanese, and sentenced to death. She was cleared of charges in the end, but she was advised to leave China, as she risked being lynched. So she went to Japan, and didn`t see China for many many years.
The songs express her pain in separating from China and her name - in "Autumn Strong" as a resigned melancholy (autumn is a word heavy with many meanings and symbolism in chinese), in "Ikanaide" as a silent plea towards a beloved one, "Don`t go!"(=ikanaide in japanese). The high notes section that Dimash uses, in both songs, symbolizes the woman`s inner cry.
Dimash first performed the chinese version, "Autumn Strong", while in "The Singer" 2017 competition - first chinese song he ever sang - with only 1 week to prepare it, he worked like crazy at the pronunciation - and managed to bring people to tears with his interpretation. Later got an award at Golden Melody Awards in Hong Kong. And now he sings it in his solo concerts.
More recently, he did "Ikanaide" (for Tokio Jazz Festival 2020), which is the first and original version, by singer/songwriter Koji Tamaki - he sings it very very breathy, so Dimash incorporated that in this version, as a tribute, at the same time showing a whole new level of breath control skills.

"Ikanaide" means "Don't go"...and Dimash is pleading with this incredible song, written by Koji Tamaki. During the "Singer 2017" competition, Dimash sang this same song, under another title, called "Autumn Strong" (Gloria Wu version), which had the back story of the song...beautiful, but heartbreaking.
