i actually met the founder today, christine, at a fireside chat. they started the business with 25k from each of their savings, and did some consulting for other beauty companies to funnel the cash into glow recipe. she reflected that not taking in outside investment at first was the right move for them. to this day they only accepted 1 investor, 6 years ago. now their company is worth 500 million.

This reminds me of scrub daddy, both scrub daddy & glow recipe. We’re given a chance by 1 shark but also treated badly, laughed at by the rest. But the thing older generations the “sharks” here didn’t realize was something like tik tok would help these brands blow up. & because of that these companies had a chance to become a household name. I attended a networking event for women in January and these two outstanding women were guest speakers. They said they’re asked about this Shark Tank pitch all the time. I forgot how much they’ve changed their business though. It’s incredibly different from what they pitched to the Sharks

They’re extremely lucky Robert didn’t go out. Quite insulting that they didn’t seem to value him and kept going after Mark. Robert clearly has no ego he was fine to still work with them despite their behaviour.
