Yay you’re always so quick with putting out reviews for new cameras, I love it!

I own the original RX0. The mic input on these cameras is a lot better than you state in your video. It is actually adjustable, so you can adjust the mic gain like on a large camera. The focus on the original RX0 is actually excellent once you know how to use it. It has a button on the back for near focus, and far focus. When you point it at yourself, you put it on near focus and it focuses on your face, when you point it away from you, you hit the enter button, and it focuses on far away things. I bet the RX0II does the same thing. Most reviewers of the original RX0 didn't know that, and gave the RX0 a bad review because of that, but once you learn about the near and far button, it focuses just fine. For video, I mainly use my RX0 with the Ninja V, which lets me record in 4K 30, so I don't know if I will be upgrading, because I don't think I will gain anything with the RX0II, since I think it will still only record at 4K 30 when hooked up to the Ninja V. I mainly use my RX0 for still shots, since I have plenty of video cameras. It is an excellent still shot camera since it has that huge 1" sensor, and the camera is so tiny, you can just put it in your pocket.

Just shared my thoughts about it after 16 months using the RX0 as my main camera... Some nice additions, some issues that remain. I feel like all the big vloggers were given RX0ii by Sony, several of them had had a look at the m1 version, none of them actually used it...

Dave, love the videos, but wanted to call something out about the RX0 II. Sony does not compare this to the GoPro and does not categorize it as an action camera. Yes - it can be used as one, but is VERY different and in a completely new category. Understandably, many people confuse and compare it to a GoPro because of the size. If you want to do a fair comparison, you should look at the GoPro vs. Sony's Action Cam FDR-X3000 which has a gimbal stabilized lens! The RX0 II is so much more and fits a new micro production camera category. The RX0 II with its flip up LCD now also appeals to Vloggers, but at its core is a professional production cam with time-code, Picture Profiles (S-log2 and 3 etc.) as well as network capable multi-cam function for high-end production like frame sync bullet-time, light field arrays and volumetric. This is truly a high-end micro production camera meant to be used alone or with other production cameras and definitely should not be compared to an Action Cam type product. Let me know if you need more info or links - I'd be happy to provide.

Sony's website says its compatible with Imovie. Will this camera work on an Imac ? I do YouTube as well.

I bought the v1 to use as a tiny all-weather, all-terrain travel camera, mostly for stills, and for that purpose it works very well. It's a niche product but has a definite purpose. Sony should get credit for continuing to explore new directions in photography.

Yes, SmallRig has a very good ‘cage’ for the RX0. Weird that it doesn’t have one for the GoPro!

Does the embedded Bluetooth work with any Bluetooth shutter remote?

I have the original RX0- I loved it and wanted to use it so much more than I did, but its weird quirks were just too limiting. I wish this had been the 1st gen version, it would've been a huge hit. Now I think the Osmo Pocket and Hero7 are much better alternatives in the same space. An RX0 III with C-AF might change my mind, though. 😉

It’s neat... 0% chance I’m going to buy it, but I like that Sony is making it and hopefully pushing other manufacturers to incorporate similar features into their compact cameras.

They say the screen turns off after 2 minutes. And no way to fix it :(
Is that correct?

Lack of video autofocus and the weird stuttering effect that the combined OIS and digital stabilization gives makes it look that this is less for vloggers, and more for really portable photography, particularly in low light.
Best way to see it really is like a tiny RX series camera, I think, rather than competition with other brands.
For vlogging, I think a combination between GoPro and DJI Osmo Pocket is just better... unless you really need that extra resolution and shallow depth of field.

Not that this is Sony's fault or anything... the problem is that because it's using an 1" sensor, that's a whole lot more data to process in such a small package. But the several videos I've seen so far testing this thing, that stuttering effect is really glaring... noticeably worse than a physical gimbal like the Osmo Pocket has, or GoPro's own HyperSmooth. It's glaring enough that the resolution and depth of field improvements wouldn't be enough for me to consider it overall better for most vlogging content I personally watch. But even if it was, the lack of video autofocus would outright kill any possibility there. Most vloggers I watch are on the move and constantly moving focus to show one thing or another, so it's a no go from start.

Then again, I guess it depends on what feature you want the most, and what problems you can live with.
RX0 II is super expensive in comparison to other solutions, so that's something you'll need to deal with right there. Lack of video autofocus is also something that will probably eliminate it for several vloggers... it's kind of an essencial thing, specially when you have shallower depth of field which will most likely result in several mistaken blurry videos. So I guess vloggers that are not walking around, have a fixed subject, lots of money to invest, and priority in low light and overall resolution. Which kinda conflicts a whole lot there. Tragically, these characteristics might make the RX0 II worse than a phone on a gimbal for most vloggers.

But the shots taken with it are pretty impressive by themselves, which is why I'm saying this looks more like a very tiny competent photography camera than something for video on the move.

Panasonic LX10 also has a 1" sensor but 20 Megpixel with a f1.4 aperture and has continuous AF

man you lost me at the autofocus or lack of. OK keeping my Gopro. PS please test the new Panasonic G90 or what ever it will be called. I hope it has auto ISO in Video mode because the G85 did not. Huge sux to Panasonic. I think the G90 or XXX name should be a very good vlog camera since it has the flippy screen and some good lenses to go with it. So keep me in mind once the release is out. Thanks Mr Maze

overheating and no continues AF? what even is a point of this camera?

The limitations could be workable if this were a budget option, but it's $700. If you're going to make an expensive action camera, there's no excuse for not having AFC, and if you're not going to put in AFC then there's no excuse for it being expensive.
