How to Combine Mixolydian & Blues to Dress Up The Pentatonic Boxes

This is something I notice all the great improvisers do: add in phrases from other scales to their usual pentatonic shapes. In this scenario, I focus on the intersection between mixolydian and blues, in the context of Steppenwolf's "The Pusher."

If enjoying your teachers lesson is important? You're doing brilliant work. Relatable, clear ideas that could help me play even something I didn't like. 👊

My first amp was your silvertone 60 years ago. Great amp I had the silvertone amp and my Ephiphone Coronet. Started playing Blues and am still doing it at 72 Los Angeles

I’m ready for when they call out the Pusher by Steppenwolf! Thanks Eric. Best advice here is to start in one scale and end in the other. Then switch!!

This video pried my brain open enough to help me finish a song I've been working on. Love you, dude. You're great.

I had never even heard the term "Mixolydian". Your knowledge and abilities never fail to amaze me. BTW those are the chords I use to play that song, and have been for 20 years. That tail is very Jerry.

I really think you have to offer a disclaimer with your videos stating to your audience that they will never be able to make a Fender Mustang sound as awesomely incredible as you do. Every time I watch your videos I'm blown away by your musicianship and the sounds and tones that you get out of that Mustang and vintage gear and I have to remind myself that I can't buy those tones. That's you and your hands creating those tones.

Gotta love that John Kay pusher man groove. I like taking in to A, for a few bars, the back to E.

Another out of the box lesson. You were really digging in on those licks. Moving and tasteful. Could you do a rendition on Bonnie Raitt's classic I Can't Make You Love Me? Thank you for your professional play.
