I am a protestant who lives nearby and made the pilgrimage. She looked extremely well preserved, as if she just fell asleep (in the face, her hands are a bit shrivelled). Even IF she had been embalmed she wouldn't look that good after 4 years. I believe it is a minor miracle. I don't need signs and wonders to believe but I will be a witness to them when they happen! As for those who will not believe, signs do not seem to change their mind.

There is a dress code to get in. I like that.

While in the US, some people try to mock the Catholic Church by forming a group called a sister of perpetual indulgence, but this is a good response.

I love hearing about Sr. Wilhelmina. She never gave up. She saw tremendous changes in her life and kept the faith. But in addition to that, she took action. She reminds me of Mother Angelica in that she persevered until the end.

I agree with her about the drastic change in the nuns after Vatican II. I just looked up that she was born in 1924 and died in 2019. My father was born in 1925 and died in 2017 and my dad’s older sister was born about in 1922 and she joined the Sisters of Charity, Leavenworth Kansas and I loved seeing her in her full habit and listening to her coming towards us for a visit in the Mother House, the sound of her long skirts and her very long rosary that hung from her belt. I always enjoyed going to see her and I was a very proud little Catholic girl to have my aunt be a nun. But I know she got really hot in her habit and she was more comfortable when she could wear street clothes and just her little short veil and when she borrowed the convent car and came to my parents house sometimes she didn’t wear her veil, she just had her short hair showing. But some of the other nuns did change their ways and attitudes. My aunt was always the Principal of what ever school she was assigned too and many times she taught 8th Grade. Eventually she was the Convent’s Treasurer and made it get computers to do their business and help run things. She just died a few years ago too in her mid 90’s.

Wonderful story. My husband and I have provided for 3 granddaughters to attend Catholic school from PreK-3 through 8. We cannot afford high school. Unfortunately, they have been exposed to almost no nuns. It makes me sad.
